    Layout CAD Programs

OK - I'll bite - is there a single, progressive tutorial for this program somewhere? I have done the obvious and been to the "tutorial" forum site, but it appears all broken up into everything except the kind of basic, step-by-step intro that I expected to find. Very interesting program, BTW...

    Layout CAD Programs

Interesting. I'm about as "artistic" as a club-footed rhino, but I'll look into it. :thumb: OK - it's downloaded. (Sighs, takes a deep breath, holds his nose and plunges in...)

What era draws your attention the most?

Index once again showing my last post as today's current reply - note the time hack: 04/02/09. Note also still no response from forum administration about why this happens. I'm guessing that it's an automatic function designed to give the appearance of an active forum when nothing is posted for...

    Layout CAD Programs

So true, which is why I like mountain modeling. The presence of large masses of solid rock are more than enough reason to leave the "space empty." Your reasoning is sound; your logic is good - you just forgot the part where I am CAD program challenged, which is how this discussion got...

    Layout CAD Programs

Hmmm...good point. I actually do it with a long strip of fiber board or something similar. And truthfully, I have never found the presence or absence of calculated easements to be critical since I model the smaller stuff that doesn't choke on tighter curves. Prototype mountain railroads...

    Layout CAD Programs

What we have here is a failure to communicate. Someone who used a CAD program to design a house is hardly in the same XTrkCad user group that I am. That's like me wondering why other people have to see a doctor when they are sick, since I understand exactly what is going on with me after 30...

    4ft x 6ft HOn3 Layout

Welcome to the forum! If you can get Masonjar's attention, he's quite good at this sort of thing. If you don't find him here, try him at the other forum. He has a real knack for layout planning. :thumb:

    Layout CAD Programs

I follow pretty much the same steps you do. My real problem these days is "layout block" due to recent events. nothing I put down seems to be what I really want, but I find myself unable to define what that is. I've suddenly got a fair amount of space, but I just can't seem to derive any...

Personally, I'm getting a charge out of it!

I have several of Armstrong's books, and others as well. "Stone tablets", eh? Hmmm...where did I leave that human-into-toad spell?

Nope - I'm switching OFF instead.

    Layout CAD Programs

I have tried both of those programs, and I find them a) confusing to learn as the controls are not intuitive in any way, and b) useless for "pencil planning", the process we all use to simply doodle possible arrangements. I disagree that a plan cannot be drawn until the plan is already known -...

It's a little too quiet in here.

If I do that, I get wired, alternating with a period of feeling drained. If it keeps up for too long, I end up with an embarrassing discharge.

Is there a layout CAd program designed for use by idiots? If so, where do I find it?
