    Barnhart loader question

On a different note - how do you keep cars from uncoupling on that steep break in grade?

    Barnhart loader question

It also has something to do with the profile of the track and how well certain wheel flanges will run on it, doesn't it?

Will my 15" n-scale helix work?

I'm sure there is a way, and I hope you find it successfully! :thumb: If you are hiding your helix on a lower level, it should present no problem, depending on what your lower level is used for. I wonder if anyone has ever considered an outside helix, like a mountain that joins both levels...

Will my 15" n-scale helix work?

The footprint of a fifteen inch helix is very large on a 4x8 layout, about 1/4 of the available space. The helix will be about 2.5 feet across.

    Making your own riveting tool

Great work! Three basic questions: 1. What scale is this in? 2. Can it be done in N-scale? 3. Will it work equally well on materials other than brwass, such as styrene?

Here's a trick I learned the hard way. Take your tiny drill bit and cut it short to a length that works for your project, usually about half. Save the point half and discard the shaft part. Then chuck it into the pin vise and start drilling. The shorter shaft is less flexible and therefore...

    Duplication of posts

I just did. Everything posted about East Tennessee and Haiti is duplicated at two sites on this forum, as previously stated. Three threads total, duplicated at two locations every time.

    Duplication of posts

Doubled. The identical posts appear in at least two locations on many occasions. I wondered why? Example; Model Rairoading and Logging, Mining and Industrial Railroads duplicate the same posts all of the itme.

    Duplication of posts

I have noticed that a good deal of posting is duplicated at more than one location on this forum. Why aren't the posts consolidated into the appropriate sections? Padding for appearances sake?

Any cell (prisoner) cars in H0?

I've never seen them operated on the local mainline by either BNSF - trackage rights - or UP - who owns the track. Must be an Eastern thing.

Funny...the highway over the Donner pass is made of concrete sections, as are numerous highways through the mountains of Colorado, places that get a lot more frost than the Deep South. Oh, and did I mention that the German autobahn was built entirely of concrete? Lot of snow and ice in parts of...

Any cell (prisoner) cars in H0?

As I said, I couldn't vouch for them and they weren't what I thought they should be, especially the second set, which is obviously upside down. The Prison Museum in Canon City tells me that there was such a thing in Colorado, and they are checking for me, but I won't get down there to confirm...

Any cell (prisoner) cars in H0?

My wife says that Colorado used to have a prison car. I will check it out with some folks I used to work with and report back. Meanwhile, I found these, but I can't vouch for them:

That's a very tempting concept, and relatively easy to tear down and re-do when the mood strikes. :thumb:
