The old 32 to 40 foot wood and steel reefers

That totally makes sense now! I always wondered why the cupola's on my caboose do not have a clear sight line over the roofs of my rolling stock. I always assumed that they (cupola) were built for that purpose in mind and thought it was odd that they didn't.

    New Bend Track modules started

You can use code 55 in ho scale for light rail. :p sign1  But yeah I clued in when I saw the initial tracks on the actual layout.

    New Bend Track modules started

Stupid question. This is N scale right? Either way this looks really cool. I like how you can arrange the layout in different configurations. Amazing! Thanks for sharing. I took the liberty of checking out your "old" stand alone layout which is equally amazing. Nice job. Have you...

    Recession Hurting Big $ Kits?

I think things will definitely slow down business wide all across the board. I know I'm starting to be really frugal when it comes to getting things done in general. With my MMR'ing, I'm looking at things I want to get working all the while thinking..."How can I do this from scratch?" Should...

I like it. Not too overboard...just right. If you don't mind Kurt, would you mind sharing how you did it?

    Layout Ideas

I agree. I used 2x3 construction for all my bench work which were actually left over 2x8's, 6's and 4's from previous home projects. I ripped them to the 3" width using a table saw. Mainly to use up some perfectly good wood I had laying around and it really helped keep the start up cost down...

    Finest Ballast

I remember that guy and was checking out his stuff last year. I think I will definitely have to make the trip over to Mississauga this year and check out his booth again. He had a lot of cool stuff. I was actually thinking about him when I replied to this thread. :thumb:

    My Miami Layout

Thanks for taking the time to answer my post Kurt. I really appreciate it. I do not know about the air horn. There are horns on my locos though...does that count?:oops::p Honestly, I'm not too sure and wouldn't even know where to find out that information.

    My Miami Layout

Sure...piece of cake right? sign1 Seriously though. What LokSound decoder did you purchase for the geeps Kurt? It'll save me the hassle of looking them up myself. edit...actually was it this one? 72428 - EMD 567 16cylinder without turbo Charger, 1chime air horn, dynamic...

    My Miami Layout

Kurt. Thanks for showing how you got that LokSound decoder in the Pk2 geep. It helps me see what's involved for my own Pk2 geeps. I do have the high nose shells and I noticed on a couple of my locos, the casting for the high nose is screwed on, which might actually save me some grief?

    Finest Ballast

This thread has some good timing to it. I'm looking for some finer grade ballast to "bury" my yard tracks in. I've been using the WS fine grade ballast, however want to add a layer of "dirt" on top of the ties. I'll have to give them a call and get some recommendations on what to use to get...

Tetter's Layout Progress and Other Pics.

Looking at the wiring, I'm almost tempted to create a central cabinet to run everything back to. Kinda like what Nolatron has done with his N-scale set-up. I hope he doesn't mind my linking up his pic as an example. I could still have local terminal strips nearby all the...
