    Rail Joiner's

Thanks for the help. The kink was from a rail joiner that didn't join the tracks together! It never did derail the deisels I have. It did however stop the flow of power to the other side of the block! Everything seems to be running good now. Thanks for the help. Andy

    Rail Joiner's

I made a big boo boo on my N scale layout. My 2-8-0 locomotive was derailing all the time on a curve. It didn't on the other side of the layout. It had the same diameter curve. I picked out all the ballast from the rails. I checked and rechecked. wall1 The 2-8-0 stills derails at that...

    Running power over CAT5e cable

I've used it on turn outs, powering lights, and other things. What I would avoid using it to power the tracks. I would use 12 to 10 gauge wire. Andy

    DPDT switch and turnout

I have done this! All the backs are common. Connect power to the center of the switch. Then the 2 wires from the switch track, connect one to each end of the switch. It's that simple!

    Wiring LEDs to Atlas Switches

I've used Atlas's snap on relays in the past. They work the best. Run 12vdc to the common and then a 1K resitor from the relay to the LED. It's that simple! Andy

    Lighting is dim...Help!!!

Many years ago, I talked about this subject on here. I am a Ham Radio Operator. I used power supplies up to 50 amps for my radios. You can get a 20amp/13.8vdc power supply from Astron cheap. You can connect alot of lights with something like that! Take alook at Welcome page for power...

Just a note on those locomotive pictures. As you open the front door of the leading passengercar. That is what you see. The locos did a switch back, so the back loco becomes the front!

    Hint & Kink: Derailments

It's been awhile. Here's a post. On my main line 1, my Bachmann 2-8-0's have been derailing. Looking very closely and using an LED flashlight. I saw a track nail stickup a bit. I removed the rail and the locomotives do not derail anymore. I guess you need to watch out for that. This...

    A picture says 1000 words

Lynn: The picture is the CSX maineline passing my place in Vonore, TN. Color is almost the same. I also used a differant color ballast, not the gray. I wanted to be differant. So that color would also stain the rails. Andy No hard feelings!

Cannonball: That is a Souther locomotive. The other is Rock Island. I had the same problem and sent it back to Bachmann. It took 8 weeks! :( Lynn: That is dried paint. Not the flash or wet paint. Some don't like it, but I do. That's what counts for me.:) Andy

    Train driving career?

There is an engineer school in Dunlap, GA. Northfolk Southern will pay for you to go there but you will have to signa working contract with them. CSX will almost autaticlly hire you if you go on your own and pay your own way. That school is one of the countries best. Andy
