    Photography Game?

Wayne, the yellow road numbers on the cab, and the little (hard to see in this pic) CSXT under the number say that this was an ex Conrail unit. Also, Conrail's SD50s were numbered in the 6700's, IIRC.

    Analogue power questions...

I think if it's looking for AC power, you could probably use the accessory power on a normal trainset power pack. They're typically between 15 and 18 VAC. As for stopping for 5 minutes, you might be able to adapt the Miniatronics Reversing Unit.

    Digitrax or NCE?

... yet. MRC is apparently working on a wireless computer interface for the Prodigy system. Walthers has it in their system, delivery date TBA. $139. My $0.02. The MRC is much easier to use for programming locomotives. The menu steps through address (no hoops to jump through for 2- or 4-...

    Whats wrong with Atlas Turnouts¿

It sounds more like you have older steam equipment (Rivarossi, AHM) with very large flanges than the frog sitting too high. Especially if it's only the steam locos experiencing this problem over the frogs. You could file the flanges on the drivers and replace the tender wheelsets, or go to...

This was sitting in my friend's engine track!

According to the book, and interviews with several CN and VIA maintenance employee's, there were reliability issues discovered dealing with the cold weather (brake lines freezing!). But these were resolved within the first year of service. However, even back then, the media was happier to pick...

This was sitting in my friend's engine track!

Actually, it depends. In the US, not so much, but in Canada, for CN it ran in Toronto-Montreal service from 1972-1978. When Canadian passenger rail operations were rolled into VIA rail, it continued in service for VIA until Oct. 1982, when they were replaced by the conventionally-powered...

    A Update

Like this? The only problem I see with that is that it limits the size of the switching lead with respect to what can be taken off the siding... move it more to the right so it's closer to the end of the siding, and you can only get a loco and a couple of cars on to the lead.

Thanks! OK, I'm with you on the first part, but the second bit? Which sidings (as opposed to spurs) do you want switches added to? (I'll label the switches to make it easier to reference) Yup - but inside or outside the main? The lowermost track I thought could be an engine servicing...
