Is it going to be the comissary car in the plans? Which magazine are those plans in?

    JV models sawmill construction

Okay I think the end is in sight for this project. I added sawdust, cut logs, and finished lumber to the interior. I also added a few details like crates, garbage barrels and the like. Next will be figures. I have about half a dozen that are almost painted (I like to buy the Prieser...

    Who made this house?

Looks like a Bachmann that's on our club layout. Then again, probably half the makers out there made something like this.

N&W CF Caboose - AMB (IMAGE HEAVY!)

This is really neat. The peel and stick siding must make it a little easier on construction? I like the way the structure goes together with the roof supports.

Actually the trans Canada Highway is only a couple hundred feet behind where I took them. Both the CPR mainline and the Highway follow almost the same route through this small pass. The Campground where my Family was staying (20 years ago) was a couple miles from the town of Field. The trail...

great pictures so far. Wayne I really appriciate the pictures of 6060 since I recently picked up a basket case IHC President's choice 6060 and will be making that into a future project. I guess your 'vintage pictures have inspired me: These were taken on a family camping trip through the rocky...

    Airbrush spray booth

So far I've painted an engine, Cattle car and a couple dozen figures (pimer) in the booth. I can see the furnce filter changing color slightly. I guess that shows it's doing it's job. While I'm painting My wife (the bloodhoud she is!) can't detect any paint odor in the rest of the house so I'd...

Thanks, I already made the piles (small ones) but putting the pile on the flor and then adding diluted white glue (50%glue-50%water, 3 drops of dish detergent) And they're holding fine. I next sprinkled some sawdust around the machinery and floor and used dulcote to hold it in place. Seems to be...

The fan is about 4-5" in diameter. I have heard of others hobbyists using a bathroom exhaust fan for this purpose, I just used what I had on hand.

    JV models sawmill construction

I've been added the interior details such as cut wood, logs and lumber on the saws, and some tools. This afternoon I added the sawdust, tacking down the piles with diluted white glue, then lightly sprinklying more around the machinery, using dulcote to hold it down. Another project is the...

    JV models sawmill construction

Only one half of the roof will be finished, The other side will be open except for framework. I was going to have a removeable roof but the framework warped slightly in the jig so I need to glue it down to make it straight.

Thanks Tommy and KJ. A computer fan probably isn't adequate. you can barely feel the air movement off one in comparison to the one I found. The computer fan is only 12VDC where mine is 115VAC. The filter will become clogged over time. That is why it is removeable. It slides up and down on the...

Hey UP SD-40-2: Those are great quickie weathering jobs, I'd do the same but since almost all CN boxcars are brown the weathering would probably be lost on them! I couldn't agree more about the IHC Steamers, I have the Hudson and it's one of the best running steam engines I've seen for the price.

I had a suggestion for another modeller about using diluted white glue with an eye dropper, maybe I'll try that.

    Adding interior detailing

I'm about to add small details to the interior of my sawmill and am wondering how to secure fine sawdust in place in piles around the shop floor? I don't want to use anything that will stain or blow the sawbust around when I'm trying to secure it.

I figured I'd add a picture of my painting fixture: It's a chunk of 2X4 with holes drilled in to at 1/2" intervalls. Bent wire can be inserted into the holes to fit almost any project as you ca see with the Athearn SW hood and cab.

    JV models sawmill construction

I added the machinery to the interior: I first installed the log carrige, glueing it down to the rails and attaching the drive cable to each end. Then the Saw was added. Turns out the saw was a little short so I added a couple risers to the frame. The rolls, steam engine and edger were...
