That's not a bad tug there Ralph. Now that I have parked the club's tug in my layout's habour I'm wishing that it was mine. I'm thinking of taking the tug over to my fatheriin-law's place and seeing if he can duplicate the hull, which is the most difficult part, so I canmake myself a copy of it.

    Re-laying my narrow guage track

That's what I plan to do. I've done that with all my Peco turnouts on my standard gauge, since they do the same thing. I'll probably look out for some caboose industries ground throws. As I said this line has been inoperable for a couple years now so it needs some work!

    Re-laying my narrow guage track

I'm probably going to build the inside frame engine out of parts and then maybe find homes for the other two, since I don't see myself needing two of each. One thing, I think my problem might be electrical and not the engine, I'm using Sinohaa turnouts and I neglected to isolate the turnouts...

The Boat is Ho scale. I wish I could take credit for it but all I've done in the picture was to fix a crack in the wooden hull. The rest was done by another modeller.

That's pretty cool Ralph. I know at least one modeller in my club that would love to do that. Here's something a little different: The Tugboat is a scale model of the SS Kelowna, a CPR tug that used to operate on the lake where I live. It and the carfloat behind it were donated to my...

    Juneco Caboose

I started the Caboose project today. While not as involved as Fluesheet's N&W caboose (great job BTW)it is challenging to me. I started by disassembling the previous builder's work. I had noticed that he had not put window glass in the the windows so I carefully pried the glued in...

    Re-laying my narrow guage track

The rest of the consolidations are all in pieces. I think I do have some NWSL gears in the parts but I'm not sure. The Shay I'm putting together using the stock parts and the Shay handbook open on the bench.

    Re-laying my narrow guage track

I soldered the leads to the track and finally I managed to run a locomotive. I think the engine needs some tweaking, since it runs in stops and starts, but at least it's better than before. here's the last three pictures of this weekend's project: The future engine facilities and log...

    4-8-4 kitbash research

Thanks Wayne, I have a basket case Pres-choice 6060 that I'm slowly gathering parts for. It looks like The major parts are the vestibule cab and the hicken style Vanderbuilt tender. Sorry Ron, didn't mean to get off topic.

    Re-laying my narrow guage track

A couple years ago a fellow modeller was getting out of HOn3 and gave me a box of parts for these engines. Turns out there is enough to build 2-3 more of these engines. I have frames and drivers for 2 inside frame and one outside left as well as the boilers, cabs and tenders. The only things I'm...

    4-8-4 kitbash research

Here's a few prototype pictures of what you're looking at. These are scans of postcard that my father bought in the early sevities. And just in case your heart isn't set on the CN version: Now, if I could only get pictures like this of CNR's 6060 Bullet nosed betty.

    Re-laying my narrow guage track

Just a quick pic of the engine in the background of the first picture. It's an MDC/roundhouse 2-8-0 inside frame. It's the only operating narrow guage engine that I have. I added a set of NWSL gears to it but it still retains he original MDC motor. I've never run it except to break it in...

    Re-laying my narrow guage track

I never really bothered to post since the narrow guage is small and until now, unoperable. I hope to change the latter by the end of the weekend. Today I replaced the track, using Shinohara flextrack: I tested it by rolling a set of trucks as well as a car over it, making sure that the...

    kitbashed headend equipment

Wayne, Through baggage boxcar 11078 has CDS decals, could you remeber what decal set they came from or are they a mix of a couple sets. since they're yellow, they don't look like the regular boxcar decals.

    Re-laying my narrow guage track

I started re-doing some of my HOn3 trackwork. When I laid it a couple years ago I was in too much of a hurry and used the wrong kind of track. I had mixed code 70 and code 55 together. the code 70 works good, but I couldn't get the code 55 to work for me without kinking and going out of guage...

    JVModels Lucas Sawmill question

Sorry I didn't notice your question earlier, here's the thread on my buildup on the JV models lucas sawmill. I eneded up scratchbuilding the interior, since what comes in it is a joke. http://forum.zealot.com/t115976/

    Lengthening an Atlas Turntable?

I suppose you could build a second larger circle on top. Then lay a new piece of track and solder wires from the old track to the new. Of course this would make the unit taller so you would have to bury it somehow, but not as much as a pit-style turntable. but then you'd have to contend with...

my first heavy weathering warning BAD PICS

The steamer looks good from what I can see. One way to tone down the stark white of the calcium deposits is a thin overspray of the engine color over it all. I've heard this will blend the weathering elements together. You might get better pictures if you pose the item in front of a flat...
