    Canadian national Tugboat

No the Walthers crane it a little different. I remember getting this crane back in the seventies but then it was made by Tyco.

    Canadian national Tugboat

The crane is an IHC model. It's been around so long it's probably been reproduced by too many companies to count.

    Canadian national Tugboat

I have another tug that I'm scratchbuilding for my own layout. It will be a copy of the SS Naramata, a CPR tug that also sailed lake Okanagan. That tug is now in a museum in Penticton along with CNR tug #6.

    Canadian national Tugboat

I've been working on a model of the CN tug that sailed Okanagan Lake here where I live. It's a Linghburg model that I 'waterlined', using a tablesaw with a fine plywood blade. I finished the cut with a belt sander. It will be going to our club layout to replace a temporary model.

    E.Suydam Kits

A great way to resurect an old Suydam kit. It looks better than the original. I had the old Swift meat packing plant but swaped it out of the layout when it didn't work with the newer kits as you said.

Building Beeg Boy.... (LOTS of pictures)

That's amazing work DR Wayne. Thanks for explaining your painting process to us. It will come in handy for me in the future. The closest steam engine (operating) that we have is a ex-CPR 2-8-0 operating in the Kettle valley steam train in Summerland. It has weathered almost exactly as Wayne has...

    DPM vs. Walthers Modulars

Here's a close-up of the harbour side of mine. Seems like the DPM kits are winning this one. Does anyone have a Walthers Modular? And the front

    Photo Fun 5-9-08

I seem to be on a nautical theme lately. I have been given two tugboats from my Club. One to build and one to restore. Here's the build up one under construction: After I finish these two I'm building a copy of the other tug for myself. My Father-in-law made a copy of the hull so I can...

    Thinning Floquil

As Wayne said, Laquer thinner for both. I've never had the paint attack plastic when I spray it with the airbrush, maybe I'm doing something wrong?

    model building help

I tend to spray the larger parts and detail paint later with a brush. I do have an airbrush but I don't use it excusivly when I spray. Wal-mart usually has a good selection of spray-can paints. I stick up on flat black, white, grey primer, and red oxide primer (makes a great brick paint). I...

    Drive In models

Our Club recently put a drive-in into the layout. It was made from a rear-view camera for a car. We put the camaera pointed at the mainline so visitors can see a track-side view of the train coming by.

N&W CF Caboose - AMB (IMAGE HEAVY!)

Excellent! Thanks for sharing. I'm sure I picked up a few tips for my projects along the way. Glad the decoder wasn't toast.

structures for end use of mine ore and quarry rock

Well, Walthers makes two buildings, One is the Glacier Gravel company that would handle the pressesing of rock. The other is a larger coal mine that could also be used for an ore mine (if you use your imagination). I scratchbuilt a mine on my layout: I't not very big and doesn't really...

    Photo Fun 5-2-08

I've used Folk-art Licorice for the washes that I do. It's a more grey/black that represents grime a bit better.

    Looking for Tugboat info

That's not quite what I'm after. I just need some paint colors. Ironically the tug sat in Kelowna (where I am) for many years. But it was in a different paint scheme. It's now in penticton (am hour's drive south) at a museum, being restored. I sent am e-mail to the museum but they never...

    Looking for Tugboat info

I'm building a CNR tugboat for my club's layout and I need some infromation from the October 1999 issue Of Railroad Model Craftsman. Does anyone have it? (it has an article on Cn tug #6) I need to know the paint scheme of the tug when it was originally in service. I already know that the hull...

    Canadian national passenger train

I finished the train, with a few exceptions that I'll add later: P2K FA-1. Okay, so it's not a real passenger engine but I do have a 4-8-2 steamer that I'll be working on to replace it. the finished juneco express Reefer. I added the trucks, couplers and door hardware today. Mail...

Searching for Help on gluing Soft Metal

Most of my white metal kits have been glued together with 5 minute epoxy. Sometines I've used CA on smalled, non-structural parts. I've tried JB weld but it's slow setting time makes it nessasry to clamp the parts for a long time.
