    Skeleton Log Car Ideas?

OK IT WORKED!! I'm not very good at computering -- not near as good as I am at soldering! Here are a few more pics , hope they help. These could be made from brass just as easy & would weigh more that way. Notice how the tobbaco bits look a bit like little chunks of bark . ( I think)...

    Skeleton Log Car Ideas?

Well Dawg, I was not part of this conspiricy about log cars the first time around but I'll try to help you. Perhaps wood will work fine in O scale -- I can tell you it's not so hot in HO. I built 20 HO skeleton cars out of mostly basswood, they had brass bunker supports & straps & cheese...

Passengers in passenger cars, yes or no

We have a station built by Lynn Austin on the Tule Springs & Western that has a rotating platform, the joints are so well fitted that they can't be seen. The Platform is full of people, baggage, & some freight. When we have small children visiting we pull a train into the station, blocking...

    Rivarossi parts?

Hey , that worked out pretty slick, got in touch with Ray today, he had the mount & some other parts that I was going to fabricate as well. I'm feeling lazy today so I ordered them all. Thanks for the tip guys.

    Galloping Goose

If I knew how to post the link to this thread , I would have listed it in the post about the poll of model railroaders to see if perhaps I qualify as one. I can't figure out how to do that so this is the best I can do.

    Are you a model railroader?

Wonder where I would fit in your scheme of things -- no place in your poll for a guy like me. I had one pretty complete layout years ago -- then we needed the room for my youngest son so the train went. I have continued to build many models over the rears, mostly scratch built ...

    Rivarossi parts?

OK!! Golf Manor still has AHM/Rivarossi parts. The parts man is not there today, I'll have to try tomorrow. www.golfmanorhobbies.com is their address & the number is ( 513) 351-3849 Ray handles parts requests. Thanks Nachoman.

    Rivarossi parts?

If I do end up remotoring it . I'll probably build a gear reduction of some sort to slow the loco down, just having a better motor won't really make that much difference. I have a Mantua/Tyco 0-6-0 running gear & frame that I built a brass tank engine to fit( Cherry Valley as in the...

    Rivarossi parts?

I'll keep that in mind --- I'm going to call the store that was suggested right now . I'll report my success or lack of it in a bit.

    Rivarossi parts?

Thank you . I will call them tomorrow. Actually they are a customer of mine for "The Good Ones " cut off disks that I market, it was about time to check up on them anyway--- You know "two birds----&all". Funny thing ---on that thread was a suggestion about buying a "parts loco" on E...

    Rivarossi parts?

Hi ,does anyone know if there is a source for Rivarossi parts anymore? I bought a basket case Heisler that is missing a few parts ,drive shafts , side rod Etc. Those parts I can fabricate easily enough but I am also missing the semicircular motor mount that holds the motor to the gear box...

    Tim Allen rotary tool

The BEST Dremel accessory I ever bought was a drill type 3 jaw chuck that replaces the collet nut, allows use of any size shank from 1/8 down to a # 80 drill bit. Micro -Mark sells them & so do several others. They used to cost about 5 - 6 bucks. Dremel might have one now themselves.

Mixing old and new model trains?

If I ever finish building some of the locos I have started , they will be 30 years old the day they are done!

How long have you been a model railroader?

I became a model railroader after buying a couple hundred dollars ( 1973 dollars) worth of trains for my oldest son for Christmas & he was not the least bit interested in the dam things!! I began modeling when I was about 6 or 7 . My first attempt was a Comet stick & paper Ercoupe ...

Las Vegas Dodged a bullet Yesterday

This is not about model trains but this is the general talk area so I guess it will be ok. We got lucky here in Vegas yesterday-- A full tank car of Chlorine gas managed to get loose & rolled free for over 25 miles --right thru the middle of Las Vegas before it was stopped. It...

    source for fasteners

    # 11 blades Gary , There is little chance they won't be better than Exacto, it would take real bad luck to get something worse than Exacto. They are on the same page as Dremel with their 409 cutoff disks, the same company makes those as the disks I sell under the name "The Good...

Mimosa I've heard of --you have a smart wife . To grease a gardener around here I'd need to get some Pesos. Thanks for the info.
