    Confounding The Whyte Sytem

Probably the biggest drawback to building one of these monstrocities is they are so DAM UGLY --- who wants to labor over anything that only makes the viewer cringe .

    Fruit Stand... almost...

Could be carroway Mountain Man -- sounds familiar, but I'm not sure now--- it was several years ago that we did it. I may even have the rest of the seeds somewhere. I'll check the spice isle at the store later today & get back to everybody. I know they weren't horribly expensive -- then -- who...

    Fruit Stand... almost...

Looks good to me. Dab a little "White Out" ( typing correction stuff) on it here & there & you will have perfect "peeling paint" . What kind of fruit do you plan to have on display ? There is a seed for seasoning ( can't remember the name but if you want I'll try to look for it)...

    Another scratched tender.

I'm sure there would have been a bolster as you describe. I could , if you like, this weekend get out the 4 truck flat car & post some pics of how it was done .

    Another scratched tender.

When MDC came out with the set of Lima Shay cars after they built the Shay kit, I had a Shay I had built & decided to make a "demo train''. I reasoned that perhaps they might want to take a Loco out to a lumber operation for trial & at 10 -12 mph it would take forever to get it across country...

    Another scratched tender.

If I remember correctly the picture I saw when I built this was of a 2-8-8-0. A third truck would be interesting , but I wonder how it would have to be mounted. I once built a 4 truck flat car, had to use a swivel bolster.

Who Knows why -- maybe they just borrowed a tender -- perhaps some used tender salesman convinced them to try one out --- everybody knows you can't trust a used tender salesman!

    Whoops !! Galloping Gooses!!

Just noticed that some guy has both a 2 & a 3 truck Galloping Goose kit on E Bay. These are---- number one -- NOT MINE Number two ---- They are the etched brass body kits only --- these were made a number of years back by an individual & are pretty nice. I already have a set ...

    Are people crazy or What??!!

I had thought of that Colton & you may very well be correct. Then I thought of another possibility, one that I may be facing myself in a year or so --- location. It could be that the buyer is in some remote place where he can't find any other source than thru E bay or other online...

    Another scratched tender.

Thanks Miles. I have not actually weighed it, but it feels like about half as heavy as a Mantua Mikado. The prototype had much smaller trucks on it -- Bettendorf or Andrews I think, I had those on it at first & it looked just awful -- they made it look like King Kong on chimp legs!

    MAJOR structure re-model. (I'm back.)

Nice stucco Miles. I have often thought that we don't make near enough use of patching plaster or drywall compound , or for that matter many other "real world" materials-- opting instead to use speciality , quite often expensive, hobby products instead. I can't remember what the product was...

    Another scratched tender.

Here is another Tender I built, I think it is a B& O prototype. All I remember was seeing the plans & a picture of it in a MR magazine & I fell in love with it! The main tank of this is a piece of Copper water pipe, With .004 sheet copper soldered as an overlay, thats why the big hole you...

I'm going to have a work place again!!

Well for the first time in a couple of years I'm going to be able to set up an area to build some models in! In preperation for that I'm digging thru boxes long stored to get things out again. I've found a couple of my scratched items & thought I'd show them off. the first is a tender I...
