    Well, not having found my floquil paints yet , I went to the Dollar Store today to get a bunch of the craft paints that a friend told me they had. 4 oz bottles of acrylic at a buck each, got 24 of em --- hope they work, I'm going to try thinning them with windex like someone on here suggested...

    What you do is coat the foil with olive oil , then hold it over a flame ( gas stove) till the heat makes the oil smoke , when it reaches the color you want --it's done . Really simple & quick. Nachoman --- I guess the era would be the early 50's ,thats about the period I strive to portray.

    My first scratch built Railroad model.

    As I recall, I used a .003 strip of copper sheet that I hid the seam of under the band around the tank. The convex ends were formed by squeezing a piece of stryene between two concave freeze plugs & then heating it with a butane torch till it took a set.

    Tulle uummm or TOOL?

    I have just found another use for it --- in my junk yard cars. Early cars had a fabric roof instead of a solid top they had an insert in the center, it had a wire mesh support. Some of my cars will now have the fabric rotted & torn off exposing the mesh support.

    Yesterday while I was trying to find some of my hobby items I have in storage --- did not have a lot of luck --never found any of my Floquil paint -- got about 75 bottles somewhere, some of it MIGHT still be good , I hope . At 4 bucks or so a 1/2 oz bottle for polyscale or whatever they sell now...
