Railway Heritage Day St. Thomas Ontario

Hi folks! Long time no see. I wanted to share some photos with you of my afternoon at the Elgin County Museum's Railway Heritage Day, so c'mon along! It's a beautiful summer day, and as we cross the parking lot, we see a promising belch of coal black smoke. Let's get a little closer to...

    Constructing an university in H0

A lot of universities are a mix of old and new buildings. The one mentioned by Stu McGee is indeed by Heljan - called a Synagogue but could easily double for any school-type building from the early 1900s. Last time I checked it was on sale at Walthers for a great price.

Awesome!! That is one sweet engine!!! I was lucky enough to see it here in Toronto about 3 years ago, and ride a special excursion they laid on to Milton. I'm so glad they're still running it. Val

    Moderator changes

Thank-you everyone. I've had a wonderful time as a moderator here. I have made some great friends, and I like to think I've helped Mikey to steer this boat through some troubled waters awhile back. I'm not quitting the Gauge, I am merely stepping down as moderator. I will still be here from...

    Sawing or Cutting Plastic?

Hi Robert - the Atlas saw should work - it just takes patience. The trouble with plastic is that you can't really use power tools unless they are variable speed - if they go too fast then they melt the plastic. :curse: I know some people have used the cutting disc on a dremel tool at a very...

    Building my new layout

Okay - time for another small update. I'm doing terrain and it seems to be very time-consuming. These shots show two bridges in progress and one underpass. The underpass will have a plate girder bridge over it, and the pink foam bridge will be a scratchbuild, mainly because I can't find...
