Finally some pics of the TRV Railroad

Finally!!!! As you can see, I've just gotten started with the layout. There has been a lot of doing, and redoing, as I've learned what the heck I'm doing. "Boy, doesn't that describe life in general?" Anyway, my father went to Oklahoma in the last land rush. He worked for Kerr Megee for many...

One more try with the photos After much experimentation, aggravation, and frustration, maybe the blasted photos will work now.

Finally some pics of the TRV Railroad

Finally found the camera. Too much stuff in too little space. I've changed my theme to Oilfield rail roading. I found thru recent research that the railroad commissions actually were the controlling body for the early oilfields. I spent almost twenty years running boats in the Louisiana offshore...

What have you achieved so far in 2004

    1. Got back into model railroading after 40 year hiatus. 2. Started the TRV Railroad. (Turk's RV Rail Road). 3. Decided what I'm going to model. ( South Oklahoma oilfield to Lousiana port). 4. Built benchwork for main module. 5. Spent way too much on trains, but, alot less than I'd have spent on...

    More: Are we merely stereotypes

Life is too short to let people who don't know me affect me. A huge second to that one!:thumb:

    Bachman DCC

I'm keeping it simple for now. Just throttle and a head light. To get the smaller decoders I will probably have to mailorder them. The local shops don't seem to have anything but Digitrax, Atlas, and MRC. I bought an Atlas decoder to start with. It would definitely have to go in the tender or...

    Bachman DCC

No room for the decoder I have an MRC AD310 decoder. There doesn't seem to be room for the decoder in the cavity above the motor. Will I have to put it in the tender? I would rather not put it there if possible.

    Philippine Railways (PNR) Derailment :(

Judging from personal experience, the engineer was probably going too fast because his superior ordered him to, to keep up a schedule. I've seen that situation happen too many times. Of course, when everything falls down around your ears, the superior will deny ever having ordered it. I've had...

    Question re water level

The Bay of Fundy has a 40'+ tide range. You can get nose bleed from the altitude at low tide.

    Have We Become Merely Stereotypes?

A little something to keep in mind.. When some one calls you a dork, be proud that you are in one of the most elite groups in the world. Einstien was considered a dork, Openhiemer was a dork, I'm sure that Gallilio was considered a dork. How about Michelangilo? The richest man in the world...

    Question re water level

Being a tug boat captain, I run into docks all over the East and Gulf Coasts. If there has ever been a standard for dock hieghts I've yet to see it. Each dock is a different hieght unless it's tied into an adjacent dock with a similar funtion(type of ship it handles. I've seen docks that when...

Am I the only person to purchase the MRC Prodigy DCC System?

I've got the Prodigy and am very happy with it. I will never run more than four trains on the layout at one time. Not any room for more in a 31' RV. I know the other systems will run a boodle of trains at one time, but are alot more money. All I can say is, if you don't need the extra horse...

    Bachman DCC

Has anyone installed a DCC module in a Bachman Spectrum On30 Mogul? I found an article about the installation some time back but can't find it again. I'm looking for Pictures and a step by step, complete idiots' type article.

    Modeling water with glass

Frequency of calms in harbors depends on the time of year. In summer, it is seen about 25% of the time. In winter, maybe 2%. In summer, I've seen it be flat calm, not even a ripple, for several days at a time, even in the middle of the Atlantic.

    realistic "DEEP" Sea water

Just a note from an tug boat captain about water color. Inland waters.: Depends on what's up stream. If you have marsh and swamp upstream the water is clear when shallow, and black when deep. The black is due to tannic acid in the water from certain types of trees and plants. Most streams...

Look at the things you can stumble upon! :)

Has anyone ever come across a track map for Flaglers Miami to Key West Railroad? I've thought about modeling it but can't find anything that shows sidings, spurs, turntables, etc. I know that Marathon had Knights Key Dock with a turntable and siding but no more info than that they existed.
