    n scale incline attempt

I started scratchbuilding the duquense incline in Pittsburgh. Track is Z scale. I havent made the cars yet, until I get Z scale wheels. Height is reduced to fit in space allotted. Not sure if I could hook up any working pulley system to actually make it work, so it'll probably be a static...

Not perfect, but not bad for 1st try

Here is my scratchbuilt Gateway Clipper riverboat. I made it from 2 sheets of .30 styrene, handrails from my blast furnace, benches from my passenger station, and spare tubing. About 6 hrs work. Will look better in my Pittsburgh module. Whatcha think?

New inspiration from the train show.

I went to the train show yesterday and saw the various club layouts on display. The simplicity of modulars connected in a giant loop made me rethink my whole idea for a new layout. My major problem is that as a prototype modeler, it is impractical (and nearly impossible) to have a continious...

    american railway engineering association

1957-1972 Only the tops of books are dirty. Pages are stiff in some areas, but no tears or markings. I glanced through and found tons of pics, maps, charts, diagrams of track maintance, ballast, retarders, grading, etc. In the 1966 one there is track maps of Seaboard, Pennsy, CN and NYC...

I found an old lot of american railway engineering association books. They are from the 50's, 60's, etc. Man, do they need cleaning. I haven't looked at them closely yet, but was wondering if any of you might have an interest in them before I try Ebay?

    N scale steel mill section

no highline Actually I'm only going to use one blast furnace. The rusted falling apart one is for a abandoned/demolished representation of Carrie furnace in Rankin, Pa. As for the high line, you cant see it from the main in real life, so I wont need it on layout, even though I scratch built a...

    N scale Scale house help

pictures help I can't scratch build anything from memory alone, so I use tons of prototype pics for references. As for a scale house, the ones I've seen are very basic. Buy a n scale ruler that converts actual feet to n scale dimensions for more accurate modeling. Show us pics.

    N scale steel mill section

I'm coming up with some rough ideas of this 3' x 12' section of the new layout. I'm not going to get too involved, until I finish the ceiling and walls in this freezing cold garage. I have scratch built two rolling mills (or whatever they are used for), from pics I took of the Edgar Thomson...
