    Small Station

A dozen or so years ago, after dropping my youngest boy off at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, I stopped at the BAR yard in Searsport to take some pictures. In the intervening years 'tween then and now, I hadn't paid much attention to the shots but, a while ago, I was intrigued with the old...

    Atlas Passenger Cars

Concor sells a 6 car set of standard passenger equipment. Looking at the design of them, it is my impression that at least 3 of them are the original Atlas designs, combine, coach , and observation. They make a nice looking set, incidentally.

    Trucks and couplers

My advice would be this: for most 40' and 50' box cars, the regular (short) extension will do as they will for most hopper cars. If you model before 1960's, use bettendoff or others specific to your model or era. From the 60's on, roller bearing would be appropriate. I'm a little fuzzy on...

    BAR work/tool car

Thanks for the Kudos, Guys! It really was a fun and easy bash. The prime ingredients were two MDC "shorty". old time baggage cars, plus truss rods and trucks left over from previous bashes of MDC 50 footers to 63 footers, and a few odds'n'ends from the junk box. Belg, about 1/4 of my layout...

    BAR work/tool car

Going through some old photos, I stumbled across a series I had taken at the Bangor and Aroostook RR's Seasport (Maine) yard. It was an old baggage car (circa 1903 or thereabouts) being used as some sort of work car. Looking at the photos, I decided I had to have one so, after finding suitable...
