    Need loco ID

This loco is definitely an Atlas RSC2 from the very early days of N scale. I got into N in 1967 and this came along shortly thereafter. Like most of them in that line, it either ran for 15 minutes or forever... you seem to have one from the latter group! I still have a few Atlas steamers that...

    B&M R-1-a 4-8-2

I put most of the finishing touches on it this week-end. Will have to examine photos of the prototype to find more "necessary" details.:p I used grimy black paint on it in places but, unfortunately, under the flash, it comes out looking quite gray so, I'll have to tone that down a bit. In...

    B&M R-1-a 4-8-2

I finally got my hands on some Dullcoat and finished my B&M cabeese. Then being a little disappointed in how "light" the Spectrum Mountain turned out to be (not disapointed in the loco itself!), I took other measures to bash a loco I had planned to bash with the Spectrum loco, a B&M R-1-a (or...

Look Out New England We are Coming

Tom, I agree with all the above recommendations... I especially recommend the Narrow Gauge Museum on the Portland waterfront, which features a short ride along the water on genuine Maine 2' NG equipment, and the Seacoast Trolly Museum in Kennebunk (not close enough to the Bush compound to get...

    Kit-Bashed Coaches

Ron, it appears to be the same loco. However, Fleischmann must have made some improvements over the years because this one of mine will pull 8 coaches with ease up a 3% grade! I Americanized it a bit by removing the buffers, adding a cowcatcher and a bell. Thanks TC.

    Steamers

I, too, model the 30's-50's era with the B&M. The 80+ footers are nice but, the B&M ran 68 foot open platform coaches right up to the end on many commuter runs. Unfortunately, they're not available in N scale. The bachmann 65' coaches wouldn't fit my needs so, I bought some MDC 50' old time...

A fellow called Steamguy, on the Atlas forum, bashed one of those last year. It looked pretty good, too. Dick

I've got to see one of the 2-6-0's up close and personal to see if it will fit my time period, 30's-50's. Glad to hear it runs well.
