Ditto, the same and likewise.:thumb: Clear windows have always been an option imxho. As a child, I would use cellophane from old cigarette wrappings - (the modern stuff isn't cellulose based) - to make clear windows. I think that anyone, pointed in the right direction by a good build thread -...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part V

Brutus: never mind the chainsaw, why not teach your son - and the other scouts - how to make a whipstaff lathe - they'll thank you when the oil runs out. You can start with a treadle lathe, but it's not essential: Treadle Power (Boyslathe.pdf) Take a rope from a whippy branch or sapling and...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part V

Dennis, you just made me laugh my socks off. To me, Camden is a little market in London, UK, by the side of a canal that's only about 20 feet wide at best! The "New Jersey" must be a whole lot smaller than she looks on TV! sign1

It's a hoax, of course. It's 'tomorrow' as in 'free beer tomorrow' - you can find this one all across the web with different senders and dates. To avoid having your phone swamped with advertisements, just drop it in a bucket of water.sign1

    plastic & wood furniture

If it helps, sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) is used in the antiques and restoration trades. Some firms use large tanks to strip and bleach old windows, doors and large furniture items. In general, as far as I know, the only acids used in the wood trades are at the mild end of the range...

The printer-specific standard ink should work fine. In my experience if an ink-jet can print a clean image to a printable CD/DVD, it can print a better one to ink-jet transparecy film. btw, I use Office World part No. SL5256 with a Canon Pixma. hth.

    Club layout 46' X 36'

That is one hugelynormous layout.:thumb::thumb::thumb: Thanks for sharing. I particularly like the tip about testing before adding scenery - although in my experience, a high-speed derail tends to assist in problem-solving by moving much of the scenery out of the way.sign1 btw: what scale is...

    Which switch to buy?

Peco UK web site, peco-uk.com, will be posting these soon for download. UK 00 is simply 1:76 scale on HO gauge track, so Peco track is a 'one-size-fits-all' solution.

Rome & Osceola RR (Tug Hill, NY)?

sign1 Yes, I noticed the links earlier, which is why I didn't post until this popped up in the 'new posts' list again. I use google earth a lot to trace old rail and tram routes. Osceola's traces had already been found and posted in those links. That's all there is to find about the Osceola...

    better late than never

Thank you for sharing these excellent shots. I like the detailing of the track - rust - oil - weeds etc, but most of all, I have to say that the flowing water is the best I've ever seen bar none.:thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:
