    A little Diorama for Christmas

Thanks! It was a bit cold today for pouring concrete, so we decided to pour old concrete. LOL, I think this will work. Next to frame the garage door opening and make the roof for it. Then on to the Bronco, time is short. Interior decorating may have to wait. I also found a suitable front...

    A little Diorama for Christmas

I have a plug in Dremel and two Harbor Freight units (which have worked fine). Those just seem too clunky for model work to me. I also have a battery Dremel somewhere, but it is buried and the batteries just didn’t seem to last. It may be found some day, by an archaeologist hunting relics. :skull

    A little Diorama for Christmas

Then, of course, the engineer showed up. He proclaimed that the opening between the house and garage had to be reinforced. So, a custom glue-lam beam was built and installed. That will support the heavy brick arch left from removing the wall that was there. (And give me a place to put the...

    A little Diorama for Christmas

Time to sit and rest. I’ve been using the ‘roof razor’ to shave off the mountains of snow on the roof. I’m too old for that kind of thing. Usually when it snows here, it melts off. Not this year. COLD and snow just keep adding up. I did get the front and rear header beams notched and the roof...

    To be somewhat Enterprising....

OH, neat ideas. I bought a reel of magnet wire (lacquer insulated stuff) for wiring LEDs in buildings. Then of course, I immediately found a solenoid coil I had saved for the same thing. Sigh. And, I have a roll of copper tape made for edging stained glass pieces (another hobby) that would be...

    Mini Cooper ‘67 Monte Carlo

I have always wanted a Mini Cooper and this discussion/build has encouraged me to have a little one. So, I captured all the instructions for the rally version and the other version AND included the rally plans as well as the regular (red) version plus roof rack In one PDF. I can upload it if...

    A little Diorama for Christmas

All this house building has worn me out. The trusses are completed and installed. Tomorrow, I will break out the little power tool I bought and notch the front and rear header beams for the rafter tails to sit in. I’ll show the tool, it is a neat, and inexpensive little thing, like a tiny...

    A little Diorama for Christmas

Heat wave here today. It has made it up to 4 degrees F. About 20 degrees warmer than last night. Tired of cold. I decided I need 5 trusses. One will be attached to each end wall and 3 to the roof itself. 3 are made now and the one end is glued in place. There is a header beam across the...

    A little Diorama for Christmas

The main house roof is now lined with a light colored veneer. While doing that, I was looking for a weight to keep it flat while the glue dried, and found my ream of legal size 110 pound card stock! And my sizing/printing program allows for that size paper too. Good news. So, we have a lined...

    A little Diorama for Christmas

I have a box of wood veneer that I think I will line the roof with, then install the ‘trusses’ or whatever appears there. The walls will get lined and I will probably print that on card stock too. I’m working on the interior layout… kitchen, bath, bedroom, living room now. I do have a huge pile...

    A little Diorama for Christmas

A major change order came in, just in time. Since this is an old railroad warehouse, it is being moved to a more suitable location. That means that the loading dock and raised floor aren’t needed. So, the entire building is now on one level, much more accessible. Now it can be attached to...

    A little Diorama for Christmas

Thanks! After looking at this in the partly assembled form, I think I will cut the main building down… that is, lower it. We don’t need the loading dock, and it can be a porch at ground level. Makes more sense.

    A little Diorama for Christmas

Looks like it will work fine. Now I think I will glue the basic structure together. Only the corners of the garage are glued at this point. I want to put it on a cardboard footprint so I can handle it better while putting in the windows and interior decoration. Once it is on the base, I...

    A little Diorama for Christmas

Thanks! I printed 9 pages of parts this morning and started working on them. As usual, with my attempts to scale individual parts and pages, I had to reprint 2 of them. No worries, there is always need for more building materials. I use an app on my iPad called ‘Print to Size’ and it allows...
