    Rome is room enough...

There's a great building. Think of how many trains and track you could run in Zscale...you could probably model the entire state of Delaware...to scale.

What era draws your attention the most?

This is actually a tough question for me to answer........ At first I would say "modern", but with each year I spend in this hobby, my appreciation for other eras is increasing. I would have never thought of buying anything steam driven, but now, some of those transition era steamers look...

Second Go at Weathering - Box & Crate Factory

Nice laser building first off...and I like the weathering job...the building has that slightly uncared for and well used look to it. Throw some crates and some broken down boxes under the second floor building overhand and you've got a pretty realistic model. (I'm a big fan of using chalks...

    The Fish Building

    Log Jammer

WOW! Very nicely done! All that needs is a couple of lumberjacks and plaid shirts and you'd swear it was the real thing.

    Weekly Photo Fun 10-24/10-31

Sante Fe F45 NScale Athearn did a really nice job with this model...lots of intricate features and a very smooth running motor. (I might have to add the Montana Railink FP45 to the fleet too...) Here's a shot near the hill by the yard on a very unfinished layout that will soon...

    Barney Secord Salutes Herc Driver

My sincere thanks! And pass that on to Barney too. You've got to have a steady hand and steely nerves to fly that low - low enough to get under a bridge. Thankfully, there are still guys like Barney around to inspire and help us all remember the glory days of the biplane and the barnstormers...

    Back Home

My hat's off to all the other military forces from all the countries still there serving. We regularly flew into bases operated by the Canadians, UK, Aussies, Germans, Italians, French, Polish, and several other nations. Everyone is doing some great work over there and deserve their country's...

    Back Home

Unarmed and Unafraid There are no escorts of any kind when the Herc's (or helicopters for that matter) fly around. We relied on tactics and one inch of plate steel on the floor of the cockpit and under my seat cushions to protect us. We really didn't fear a guided missile as much as an RPG...

    Back Home

Many many thanks everyone...I sincerely appreciate it. We worked and flew hard...around 100 combat sorties...lots of time outside "the wire" flying all over the country. You're right about Afghanistan getting a bit more dicey everyday. We had some very close misses that could have easily...

    Back Home

My thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers. I made it home yesterday. (And the Athearn F45 I ordered was even waiting for me at my LHS...time to get back into this hobby after taking some much needed time off to decompress.)

    Weekly Photo Fun 9-12

"Requesting a flyby? Negative Ghostrider - the pattern is full." The gear was safely tucked in the well but correctly facing the earth Barney. The mighty C130 Hercules can do a lot of things, but flying up side down isn't one of them. Funny thing was, when we landed, we noticed a number of...

See! No Trains! Thanks!...but I won't hijack threads with airplane pictures from over here (anymore...sorry). I really enjoy seeing all the great shots of people's layouts. Good work everyone!

    Weekly Photo Fun 9-12

See! No Trains! This is a shot shortly after takeoff from a beautiful valley fed by mountain streams in northern Afghanistan. Of course I didn't have the camera ready during the approach into the airport (very loosely calling it an airport). The runway was metal connected together, which had...

    Barney Secord Salutes Herc Driver

A good picture is worth much... :mrgreen:sign1:thumb: First off - my warmest thanks for being remembered and going through all the trouble to pull Barney away from his favorite watering hole to crank up the plane and snap a few pictures off. I humbly bow to his superior flying skills - being...

    So Long...for a while.

Greetings From Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan Thanks everyone for the kind words and prayers...I really appreciate it. Finally made it to Bagram and have already flown a couple of missions. So far...I haven't seen a single train track anywhere. Maybe they don't have any here...I dunno. But...
