I agree with you. I ended up with basic code 80. Anything outside of a foot away, and my eyes just can't tell the difference to warrent the time and expense of getting a more realistic code. I sort of went for ease and consistance on my layout. I can always get the Atlas code 80 snap track...

I don't know how much experience you have with the various Nscale engine manufacturers (you probably have a lot and know the following information already)...but I've found that each manufacturer performs differently on the tight curves. Due to space requirements, I can only use 9.75" as well...

It probably won't make you feel any better, but we have these same problems south of your border. I live in Charlotte, NC and we're in the middle of adding a light rail system to take people into the city and "reduce" the street/highway traffic. Finding exact numbers is almost impossible, but...

I think you've got an overall good looking and interesting design. Will you be running the layout clockwise or counter clockwise for the most part? I was thinking that...if you're running clockwise, you're engines would "head in" to the sidings and spurs. But looking at the bottom turnout...

I am so sorry to hear of his passing and please accept my deepest condolences to his family and friends. Isn't it amazing how many people on several continents his life and excellent work touched and inspired. He made a difference and added enjoyment to so many lives.

Good point. I have rail joiners over the entire layout and think I'll solder those joints anyway. That way the rail joiners will serve to hold the rails in place as I accomplish the soldering process. Hopefully, that's a good idea.

I appreciate the info...thank you. I've been practicing my new found solder technique and so far, I've been making the joints smooth with no solder getting to the inside of the rails. Since the connections seem firm, I'm assuming they're conducting electricity without problems. Running...

Thank you! That's more than I knew before. It ran well before, and seems to run ok now, except in reverse when it jams up again. But outwardly, I can't see anything causing the sudden lock up of the wheels.

We had a major repair for the back shops here on the Ballantyne Division...the J-Class stopped working. Now, I'm no expert on engine repair, but a magnifying glass soon confirmed that two small parts had become seperated and another part had bent as a result. Straighting out the bent thin metal...
