    ebay selling....

Word to the wise regarding PayPal...several months ago we had a large charge amount credited to our Amex card via PayPal. When we checked into it, we found PayPal allowed a "vendor" to fraudulently charge $700. Fortunately, we check our credit cards almost daily looking for this kind of thing -...

    Bachmann Dynamis Review

Ahhh...again good details - thank you. I've got 50+ engines (I'm a power freak, what can I say) so the cost of converting most of them would be staggering right now. I understand the DC/DCC throttle issues and thought I'd use a completely seperate DC power pack to run "DC only" and completely...

    Bachmann Dynamis Review

Very nice review - thank you for taking the time to post it! I'm still sitting on the fence as to which DCC system to go with and whatever else you discover with this system, I'd be interested in reading. I plan on running an non-computer interfaced, three or less operator layout with decoder...

    Tighest radius

I agree with you. I ended up with basic code 80. Anything outside of a foot away, and my eyes just can't tell the difference to warrent the time and expense of getting a more realistic code. I sort of went for ease and consistance on my layout. I can always get the Atlas code 80 snap track...

    Weekly photo fun 11/28

What I've been up to... I know my picture posting is way down...I'm still here everyday, but have little work worthy of posting. I have decided on the track plan, now I'm roughing in the roads and building placement. All the track in pinned in place and won't be finalized until I get 4 more...

    Tighest radius

I don't know how much experience you have with the various Nscale engine manufacturers (you probably have a lot and know the following information already)...but I've found that each manufacturer performs differently on the tight curves. Due to space requirements, I can only use 9.75" as well...

    Is it possible...

Really nice work! :thumb: When are you going to start finding Nscale pigs to make into silk purses? Aren't there any Nscale piglets running around up north?

New Train Lines Planned for Toronto and Ont./Que.

It probably won't make you feel any better, but we have these same problems south of your border. I live in Charlotte, NC and we're in the middle of adding a light rail system to take people into the city and "reduce" the street/highway traffic. Finding exact numbers is almost impossible, but...

It's always amazing to hear the history behind the story. Really interesting!

    Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all! Please say a prayer and give thanks for those in uniform around the world keeping watch and standing guard while we celebrate. Their Thanksgiving meal will be served on ships, in airplanes, or on the cold ground next to their weapon. Yet, as those of us...

    B unit w/ lit portholes

    That's pretty cool! I don't think I've ever seen a "lit up" B unit...great idea.

    A Update

HA! Shows how linear I think...I see your point...you can run it in either direction and flow from one section to another regarless of a "preferred" direction. Cool layout - I like it!!

    A Update

I think you've got an overall good looking and interesting design. Will you be running the layout clockwise or counter clockwise for the most part? I was thinking that...if you're running clockwise, you're engines would "head in" to the sidings and spurs. But looking at the bottom turnout...

    Multimeter testing

Funny you mention that...I had planned on doing just that...adding a few more feeders every few feet or so. I planned on soldering the longer straight-aways of flex track to make sure the rails stayed in close contact. (I only used snap track on the curves to make sure the rails would hold a...

Bachmann NScale J Class 4-8-4 question

Ahhhh...interesting. I'll need to figure out if that may be the cause of this whole problem. I normally run the layout clockwise, and I'll look to see which side was affected...either the inside (of the track turn radius) wheels or the outside set and see if there's a fix. The tiny Nscale...

    Paul Templar RIP

I am so sorry to hear of his passing and please accept my deepest condolences to his family and friends. Isn't it amazing how many people on several continents his life and excellent work touched and inspired. He made a difference and added enjoyment to so many lives.

    Multimeter testing

Good point. I have rail joiners over the entire layout and think I'll solder those joints anyway. That way the rail joiners will serve to hold the rails in place as I accomplish the soldering process. Hopefully, that's a good idea.

    Multimeter testing

I appreciate the info...thank you. I've been practicing my new found solder technique and so far, I've been making the joints smooth with no solder getting to the inside of the rails. Since the connections seem firm, I'm assuming they're conducting electricity without problems. Running...

Bachmann NScale J Class 4-8-4 question

Thank you! That's more than I knew before. It ran well before, and seems to run ok now, except in reverse when it jams up again. But outwardly, I can't see anything causing the sudden lock up of the wheels.

Bachmann NScale J Class 4-8-4 question

We had a major repair for the back shops here on the Ballantyne Division...the J-Class stopped working. Now, I'm no expert on engine repair, but a magnifying glass soon confirmed that two small parts had become seperated and another part had bent as a result. Straighting out the bent thin metal...
