    Wiring with DCC

I use (and I believe that most others do also) use the loco number in either the 2 number or 4 number convention (whichever you feel most comfortable with programming). There are probably other systems around but you would have to maintain a listing of what you programmed.:)

    trackwork

I think your answer is "fix it now, before you get any further along in your scenicing and building". You will be glad that you did it earlier than later.

    EZday's layout party

The new "cobblestone" look is great. I like what it did to the overall appearance of the community. That is a very neat scene, Don.

pros and cons of each dcc manufacture system

 I use the Dtrax Chief (Radio) Like Andrew mentioned, my system is easy to use right out of the box by following the set up instructions in the manual AND ensuring that your track work is properly installed, cleaned, gapped for power districts, and that your feeders get your power all the...

    ACT now owns a 2-8-0

They make you a believer. I have 4 of them, only 1 is dcc equipped but it runs so quietly around the layout that I have to look for it. Starts to crawl about 6 ties per minute at speed step 1 and will pull 8-10 40' cars and a caboose at that speed around the layout. I had forgotten about...

    Current Project (junk yard)

you might want to "dull coat" and rust the old grader. The tires look to new to be in the junk yard. give them a light sanding to take off some of the tread and "gloss". Ralph has a great idea for additional car bodies and other metal junk shapes. Nice overall effect:thumb:

An Odd One at the Old Water Tower

Likewise. Mixed trains have a lot of appeal as well as operational diversity. It's the best of both worlds. :) :) train97

Model Railroad Shop in Washinton DC

The "Great American Train Store" at Union station closed a couple of years ago. Baltimore, which is a 60 mile drive from DC has the B&O Museum and M. B. Kliens Train Store. I could spend a year's pay in there and still not get everything that I would like to have. It is a great place and good...

    Layout Critique

That 5' width is quite a bit if you should ever have to rerail cars on the far tracks. If you have access on all sides you are okay.

How about a couple of decrepit industries such as and old lumber yard and a wooden coffin maker or a concrete plant and a concrete casket factory? Of course a morgue and possibly a "Dr. Frankenstiens Lab" could be a source for all sorts of loads for gondolas.peasoup Have fun!!!

    How do you solder track?

What Kevin said. You don't tell us where you are. Your climate and humidity control can be a factor. Heat and moisture can expand your track or table causing slight warping of the track. I know in my case I heat my basement with a wood stove and even in an enclosed area away from the heat I...

    ALCOs Leading the Way

You have the greatest luck getting those "railfanning" opportunities. The trains just seem to know when you are going to be at the right spot:) That is a nice piece of work on every aspect, the painting , weathering, detail work, and the scenery. Very impressive.
