    Decoder headaches...engine recommendations?

I, too, have an n-scale Atlas engine (GP-9) that I bought decoder equipped and have been disappointed in it's performance (Doesn't start rolling until speed step 26) :( . However, I have purchased other Atlas and Kato locos that take the drop-in decoders and they all work just fine. Slow...

Don, I have 3 of them. All run very well at slow speeds. I have DCC in 2 of them and they creep very slowly at speed step 1. It takes them about 5 minutes to move 2 feet. Pulls 12-15 on 2% grade All of the engine are very quiet. They run as quiet if not more quietly than the the...

new to the forum and need alot of help

You don't really have to special order that stuff. Just go to a Michaels or Wal-Mart for the paints and the cheap brushes. If you need the "artist" quality brush Michaels would be good for that also. I picked up a package of 10 miscellaneous sized brushes from Michaels for less than $5.00...

    well, heres my newest project.....

I think that I would have swung it down instead of up. That way you eliminate the hinge on top. and the rail rotates out instead of in.

    The most you pulled?

I used my Kato Mike with the traction tire to pull 45 freight cars on a 2% grade. Ran out of cars to add. I have had 24 behind a Bachmann Spectrum 2-8-0 on the same grade.

    Micro layout

I third the idea. I want to do something similar in a coffee table. An overhead would be a good substitute :) :) :) BTW - very nice work Tyson - as always.
