    New layout in the works.

After searching around for some concrete pillars in n-scale one day, I stumbled across this product from Monroe Models. It looked just like what was wanting, so I ordered a box from Model Train Stuff Featuring Exclusive Model Trains and accessories at Discount Prices, along with the extension...

    New layout in the works.

Today I got the first tortoise turnout switch machine installed on the lower level mainline. After putting down some track first using silicon latex, I marked out where the tortoise needed to go, cut out the foam, and then cut a whole in the benchwork for the tortoise. Then using Liquid...

Powered turnourts - Industry's manual or powered too?

Bahaha. If I go manual industrial, I was thinking of using Humpyard throws to avoid the "hand in the layout" situation as well.

Powered turnourts - Industry's manual or powered too?

For those with powered mainline turnouts (or planning on it), I'm just wondering what the general consensus is for industrial siding turnouts. I'm considering using a mixture of methods...possibly. I know want the mainline siding turnouts to be powered, for possible automatic computer...

    GPS Directions gone bad......

So in instances where drivers run a crossing too late, get stuck on tracks, etc... and end up getting hit and causing major damage to train, track, freight, and possible lives, do railroads typically fork the repair bills over to the responsible party? I would assume so, but you never hear that...

    New layout in the works.

This weekend I worked on laying down the roadbed and track on the lower level for the entryway into the helix. I'll get pics up later in the week, but here's a video showing of an intermodal on the helix.

    BDL 168 - Sub-Buses?

Hey all, Quick question regarding Digitrax's BDL168 occupancy board. The hookup is pretty straight forward, Loconet to the BDL168, then Track feeders to the proper block of track. Since feeders in the traditional sense are short 20AWG-ish wire connecting to the DCC bus, my thinking is I...

    New layout in the works.

Thanks! i really like doing the shelf layout. Not only was it a selling point to my wife ("See! I still have a whole office too!"), I like the fact that it sorta restricts me in the amount of work to do. Like I don't have to worry about filling a lot of dead space with scenery or structures...

    Airbrush spray booth

I was going to build me a booth, but I end up just painting in the garage on a shelf I have up against one of the walls with the door open and a dual cartidge respirator on. Regrading fans, be sure whatever you use has a sealed motor. Flammable vapors being sucked through an open motor housing...

But if you use foam, won't you end up with a porous looking foam surface, instead of a solid, smooth one? railroader9731, any pics of yours?

    Traincat Brass Models

Hi folks, Anybody here put together any TrainCat models before? I'm eyeing their Truss bridge and through girder for my layout. BLMA has a fully assembled and painted truss bridge coming out soon for about $75 more, but wondering how much of a PITA the bridge kits might be to assemble. I'm...

    Concrete Bridge Piers and Abutments

ah-ha! I forget he had piers. I remember seeing those a while back now. I purchased one of his street packs before (helpful for planning). I'll have to give those a try to see how they look once printed.

    Concrete Bridge Piers and Abutments

I've been searching walthers.com for them, but haven't come across any yet. All I get are stone piers, not [modern] concrete ones. Anyone ever come across some before? Here's some in HO on the new Art of Model Railroading calendar that has the look I'm after.
