layout ideas Have you gone on the Modelrailroader.com website and tryed the data base? It has a good number of ideas to choose from. See below for some ideas. I'm sure there will have to be a fair amount of tweeking but the ideas are there.

I thought about the pump idea, but the way it worked out the track is only about 2 inches away and there might be some splashing in the track. Maybe a woroking stream somewhere else on the layout.......OK now you got me thinking.

Finally an update I've finally had some time to work on the layout. I've been working on the mountain, waterfall and pond. Let me know what you think. Any suggestions would be great. There is still much to do on this scene as I have to build the coal mine, add the ground foam and trees...

Made some changes to the engine terminal entry way and near the bridge. I'll post some pix this weekend.

I guess that depends on how much money is on hand! Sometimes I use newspaper wads and cardboard with a layer of plaster wrap. But I prefer the blue or pink foam (which ever I can get my hands on for free). I shape it with a hot knife/rasp/file/sheet rock knife and then layer it with plaster...

I'd like to do a city scene on the left side starting at the roundhouse and a mountain scene maybe with a some sort of mine scene on the far right. Perhaps a coal mine on the mountain side and a power plant on the other side where the coal gets delivered. I'll see how the money holds out.
