    Some layout photos...it's been awhile

Super pictures dog. Timber buildings are always full of charm and interesting outlines. A cluster of them like you've made makes me drool. Beautifully made! I'm also admiring your scene of the RGW and tunnel mouth. Got any more photos of your layout you'd like to share with us? I for...

I finally succumbed to the On30 thingy

You guys are good to me Thanks for the compliments my friends but I truthfully am not happy with the goat. Maybe I will add more junk and weathering as you have suggested Jim. Pete, see how that model of yours turned out? It's my idea of perfect L x W x H ratios, just as narrowgauge should...

    Need your opinion

You asked for it! Well Jim, here's an honest reply:- It looks just like it should! :thumb: :thumb: I doubt if more that two originals look the same and you have all the engineering bits in it that should be there. You chose a difficult subject to model in N gauge and it turned out...

I finally succumbed to the On30 thingy

The final straw! Someday I might just get the knack of weathering models. I'm not happy with this result. Another thing which depresses me with this yard goat is it looks too much like a British prototype typical of what is used in quarries. Too low, too wide and too high a coal bunker to be...

I finally succumbed to the On30 thingy

Progress? Not sure I should call this progress! :( Having rustled up more "junk" to use on this yard goat I stuck the pieces on. The sand box is a balsa block. The pop valves and whistle are diodes. The compressor is a carved balsa dowel. The air receiver is a capacitor with bands stuck...

    Radio Interference from motor sparking

Vic, Mikey want's to know which dump the lamp is in .. he thinks it would have a use on his RR missile site especially if it screws up radar sites as well as radio/tv and such. chuckling here. Errol

    Radio Interference from motor sparking

I was surprised that USA model locomotive motors are not fitted with spark suppression capacitors (or inductors) to dramatically reduce radio/television interference. European models are fitted with both or at least were when I had them many years ago. I haven't run trains more than a few...

    Finished my first Jordan kit.

They are both terrific Jesper! The only way one can mess them up is getting them pesky fine/thin piece parts to stay in place while applying the plastic cement to them. I love those vehicles and you finished them the way they are supposed to be. Errol

    Later that Day

Yessssssss Jimmy Bring on them timber built buildings Jimmy. I never tire of seeing such buildings. Salmon???? are your LPS's getting above their station in life? :D :D I though catfish was good enough for them lazy characters  That's a delightful model you've made. Keep...

    Another Day Another Model

Bring on the "Old Times" That's a great scene Jimmy, not only does it not use much space but it adds real character to a layout. It's a pity you hadn't put it in the contest as a "mini scene" because it sure is nice. The colouring is so typical of such operations, reminds me of my trip to...

    Starting over

Oooooooops!! No doubt you fired the surveyor who planned the route? :D :D I just hope that layout wasn't too far advanced. Just think of the RR's who opted for narrow gauge then found they had to convert to standard gauge in the real world! It's good to hear you have plenty...

    Narrow Gauge?

What a magnificent picture Ron. The Swiss were building stuff like that long ago and led the world at it! You're lucky you're only a car drive away from scenes like that. Errol

I finally succumbed to the On30 thingy

3rd Picture The boiler is made from Kitchen foil card core. The stack is brass tubing. The steam dome is balsa dowel (it doesn't fit exactly but it's close enough for me :p :D ) The cab roof is scribed siding. Errol

I finally succumbed to the On30 thingy

I started scratching an On30 loco body for the MDC box-cab chassis. The only commercial parts are the nut/bolt/washer detail, an MDC spark arrestor and a couple of offcuts of scribed siding. It needs a bell, sandbox/dome, lights, stirrups, grab irons, weathering and lotsa junk that goes with...

    The On30 conspiracy

Thanks Shamus, I've PM'd you my e-mail addy. I'd love to visit your terrific layout, thanks for the offer but it won't be for a month or two before we might meet up. This On30 thingy has got me going, (when the bug bites, it bites HARD) I've posted pics of my scratched On30 loco in the...

    The On30 conspiracy

Thanks Shamus Shamus my friend, I've now spent something like 20 hrs surfing a lot of On30 layout sites (including yours :thumb: :thumb: ). It's the freelance scratched stuff that has bitten me hard. I'm currently scratching an On30 steeamer body for the MDC centre cab diesel and I'm having...

Finally! A Combine On The Line!

Yeahhhhhh!!!!! It's a charmer steve! :thumb: it'll look good after the LPB's get through with the paint job too. Will you use dry lettering or decals to finish it? Jon, you asked the pertinent question on dimensions :thumb: :thumb: . Those are all the dimensions I need to get stuck...
