    Weekly Photo Fun 9-12

That's interesting how the counter weights on the two wheels are different. I would've thought they would be identical but they're not.

Wow, that comment brought back some childhood memories. I have actually... more than I care to admit. When the 1 ton was out of action and the 9N just wouldn't start, we used to load the ol' half ton down till she was squattin' on the bumper stops and then we'd pile it on some more... sometimes...

    Railroad Book Collectors

I only have one really old railroad book. It was given to me by my father in law with strict instructions never to get rid of it. It's a book titled "The Curse of Tramp Life" written by a famous tramp better known as A-no. 1. It's #3 of the 13th edition with a copyright of 1912. It's pretty...

    No more steam

That was one of my favorite parts of staying in the Kaibab lake campground near Williams... the fact that you could hear the echo of the steam whistle drift down through the pine trees at least twice a day.

    Ever sell your layout?

I tried to sell this one for $750 a long time ago. I never got a single bite until after I got tired of it sitting in my garage and donated it to the local club. It sold immediately after for $400. $750 was about what I had into it for materials and did not include any labor of any kind. More...

The makin's of one nasty accident

From log home company to log home customer: Uhm, the driver we hired to ship your new log home left it on the railroad tracks while he ran in to get a soda and it got run over by a train. Can you wait another six months while we put together another package for you?

Oh so true. Thanks. Reminds me of that poem written by that little girl with cancer about slowing down because life goes by so fast.

The makin's of one nasty accident

I can truthfully tell you that I saw no activity after the derailment but apparently, of the two guys in the cab of the lead unit, one of them survived!... Not to worry!... The only unit to sustain any permanent damage is the one that took a nose dive. The other two can very easily be repaired...

I'm not sure what the speed restriction was supposed to be but I've been told by the brakeman they were doing 65+ just before the derailment. Apparently they're blaming it on, "the biggest buffalo ever!"

The makin's of one nasty accident

One of our neighboring sites has a monthly photo contest as well and this months theme is disasters. The deadline is the end of August and I've been procrastinatin' something fierce. I had an image in my head of a grand derailment but could find no place adequate on my layout to pose a scene...
