    decoder compatibility

I've read that it may be possible to place an N-scale decoder into an Ho-scale loco. Is this possible? If so, are there any concerns? I am trying to put sound into a GP38-2, which is too slim for the HO scale sound decoders I am looking at. Are there sound decoders that will fit into an HO...

    EZ Command

Basically, with their reverse loop module and the EX command, I can turn a train without touching it or pushing any buttons other than throwing the turnout switch? That is my main concern. I won't be running more a few trains. Thanks.

    EZ Command

I am thinking about going with DCC on a new layout because I have reverse loops and I like the idea of not having to stop the train. I am not certain of the wiring, but I do wonder about different DCC systems. I am not looking for anything extravagant as far as running a bunch of trains...

    Is this any good?

I'm way more into dirt than NASCAR, there just aren't HO cars for it. I think a NASCAR layout with scale cars would look better than what I have here. You're not stealing my idea if you do it. You don't need the whole track to put a scene on your layout, just a corner (or a straightway down a...

    Is this any good?

I think the actual lights are grain of wheat bulbs from Miniatronics I think. I got some tube styrene and cut the pole and the t parts to length. For the light housing, I looked around and found some things call furniture nails. They are like a half-moon with a nail sticking out. I just...

    Is this any good?

I really wanted a race track on my HO layout. The cars are 1:64 I think, so I put just a corner of the track on the corner of the layout, which will help make the difference less noticeable. At HO scale, the track would have taken up 10 feet of the layout. The lights work and are...

    Hobby shops in Pittsburgh PA.

http://www.ab-charles.com/ In Pittsburgh. There are directions on the website. The website isn't very impressive, but this is the best hobby shop aound. It is worth it if you have time. I wouldn't consider it very far from I-79.

    I need light poles. Help

I figured I would have to, but it wouldn't hurt to ask around anyways. I'm not too skilled in my craftsmanship. Are there any tutorials out there for such a thing? I have ordered the bulbs already. I have been wondering what would be better for the cone around the light; cardstock...

    I need light poles. Help

I am looking for working light poles that would light up a sports field, or something like that. The kind that have about 4 lights on each pole. I can't seem to find any. Any ideas? Thanks.

    How is window glazing done?

I have the clear testors stuff for it, but never really knew exactly how to use it.

    Best decal paper/system?

Yes, I want to make my own, from a regular printer. Background color (white) doesn't matter.

    Best decal paper/system?

Anyone favor one type in particular? Price doesn't matter, I want something good. Thanks.

How many of you have done this???

My girlfriend couldn't be less interested, although she does like to paint. I even built her a scrap booking area with our computer so she could be downstairs when I am working on the layout. She barely uses the PC and never got into her scrapbooking. That's okay. Those little spurs on my...

    tortoise install...

I have just found stiffer pieces of metal, like coat hanger wire, or a piece of rail. But I do not advise this, because I don't know about the wear it may cause on the turnout or the tortoise, but it seems to work for me. I'm no pro.

    Goofy question about affixing track...

Thanks for the help guys. I still am not sure what I will do. I went to lengths to avoid the exact problem that happened, anticipating the fact that I wanted a six axle engine.

    Goofy question about affixing track...

Kind of hard to explain, but here goes... thanks for reading BTW... I bought an Athearn Dash-9 loc, the six axle type, hoping that it would go around my layout. Well, at first it didn't. My curves are "about" 20" radius, so I figured that would be okay. I am using Peco code 100 flex. I...

    Great Pittsburgh area hobby shop

A B Charles and Sons in Dormont have relocated to the corner of Banksville and McFarland. They were pushed out of their old store. I am no way connected to the place, FYI. I just like to give credit where credit is due. I encourage anyone in the area to go there. I go out of my way to get...

    Anyone model Norfolk Southern????

I model NS. I recently bought a GP38-2 Proto 2000 from Walthers on sale for about 60 or 70 bucks. They retail about $130. Might want to check and see if they still have any on sale. It is DCC compatible. Don't forget to check e-bay. There are also 6 axle diesels out there if your layout...

    Hope this works...Please leave feedback.

Ha, I already told my girlfriend that it is done and that it is just a barren winter landscape. I don't get much time to work on it, so progress is slow.
