    Tighest radius

i was in the hobby shop yesterday and looked at some N track. It seems the 55 leaves little room for error, but the other stuff they had the rails seemed pretty unrealistic. i was using code 83 on HO, but probably wouldn't go for that "look" with N.

    Tighest radius

My HO trains ran really well. I had a really nice layout going before I sold the house. I think I am going to build a small scenic layout with a train that chases itself, as this is all I have time, money, and space for. I'm more into the modeling than the operations. Thanks for your thoughts.

    Tighest radius

I moved into a new house and no longer have room for a practical HO layout, so I was considering building a tabletop n-scale deal. What's the tighest radius you have been able to run an engine? I figure to probably be using a 4 axle diesel. How about the tightest radius for a steam 2-8-8-2...

    N scale radius versus HO

I run 6 axle deisels around about 20-22 inch radius pretty well in HO. I was considering switching to N scale and was wondering what that minimum radius would be in N scale. I know it depends on the engine, but in general, what would a minimum radius for 6 axle diesels be in N? Thanks.

    wheel slipping / traction problem

Part of the problem is too steep a grade, but I am going to revise that. It was also happening under a moderate speed on the flat parts, pulling about 9 walthers gold line coal hoppers, which are the correct weight. I have not oiled my track as of yet, but I have in the past on another layout.

    wheel slipping / traction problem

I have a new layout and my locos wheels seem to be slipping a good bit. I have two Atlas gold diesels, one is 6 axel, the other is 4. I also have a 4 axle proto2000 diesel. They all slip pretty good. I don't want to replace the wheels. I would add weight, depending on where i can put it. Is...

    short on line

Not really. I had just designed and built this layout after a tremendous amount of thought and planning. It is my first time with DCC and everything worked fine except for the lack of power to control the reversing units. It works great now. Now I have another problem. My locos wheels seem...

    short on line

Just to update, nothing was wrong with the layout or wiring or gapping. The base unit got a software upgrade and they gave me a stronger power pack for $25. Not getting any shorts now. Just info for MRC DCC users

    short on line

No there are two reverse sections, the red lines are the insulated gaps. The result is the same whether I have two locos, with or with out cars. My cars have metal wheels, but everything runs well with those. The short happens when the engine hits the track on the other side of the gap. When...

    short on line

They are more like a wye, but as far as I can tell they are reverse loops, they just don't look like a loop. The tracks come back on themselves. The main line would be the figure 8.

    short on line

A guy at MRC says I need software upgraded in my base unit and a bigger output power supply. Does this sound like a bunch of hooey, or about right?

    short on line

imgsrc="http://www.bluemountainaerialmapping.com/track.JPG" The gaps are the red lines. I am using MRC Prodigy Express and MRC reversing units. I get a short or "svda" on my menu on the cab when the engine passes over one of the gaps. It happens in each loop. I have tested it running just one...

    P2K replacement body

They weren't giving me a hard time, they just lack in communication. I got a message back and the guy asked for an item number, so we will see if I get another reply. Thanks.

    P2K replacement body

I can't seem to get an answer from Walthers. Does anyone know where or if you can buy shells for Life-like proto 2000 engines? I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks.

    Atlas Gold or Proto 2000?

I am looking at buying an HO engine, Proto 2000 or Atlas Gold. Any opinions on these? Thanks.

Are Broadway-Limited Bluelines good engines? Good? Great? Awesome? Thanks.

    decoder compatibility

Well, it doesn't really matter much now. I got a multimeter and went to get my stall current and the engine wouldn't run. Wire was disconnected, fixed the wire, still didn't run. Might as well get a new engine with sound installed. Usually doesn't cost all that much more than a good decoder...

    decoder compatibility

I found two things in Model Railroader. I found how to determine my loco stall current. I'd rather just look the info up or have someone tell me if anyone has the info. My loco is a Proto 2000 GP38-2, only a couple years old. The decoder I want is the N-scale sheer brilliance form MRC. It's...

Not exactly sure what you mean. Where can I find this information? Thanks.
