    Lifelike GP9RM

Here is my policy..If I want a certain locomotive I will either look it over and test run it at a hobby shop, ask local N Scalers or I will just buy the locomotive. Also keep in mind Biased turkey may have gotten a bad locomotive that slid by QC.It happens with ALL brands including Atlas and Kato.

Coal hopper for transition era ?

Gus,The BEST solution would be to use MT trucks with short shank couplers..Of course advanced N Scale modelers are body mounting the couplers.

Gus,Its about a mile from the house..Weather permitting that's my goal on my morning walks..I rest and railfan and then walk home..I also drive there and read railroad magazines while waiting on the next train and the average is one train every 20 minutes.I have seen as high as 4 trains in a...

    Pump 'em up!!

Actually the brakeman does not connect the air hoses that's the Carmen's job. Why? It is the carmen's job to inspect the train, connect air hoses, open the air vale and check the car's retainer valve. The only time a brakeman connects a air hose is when the locomotives is coupled to the train or...

    Steam train 136mph!?

PRR's T1s could and would hit 100 mph between Crestline and Ft.Wayne..This was done on a routine bases. -------------- Squidbait said:There are lots of claims of 120+, and "...coulda done more...", but there's no documented proof - except for the Mallard run. ----------- Why would a engineer...

    History channel Tonight!!

I didn't watch all of the show but,I notice they pointed out some mega bad derailments and said nothing about the millions of miles of safe transportation the rails give nor did they mention the mega truck accidents that includes chemical fires. I saw the show as a antinuclear rail shipment...

    Photo fun 6-20-08

Here's three photos I took during our 3 day open house during the antique farm tractor show.. Looking at the roundhouse tracks It looks like the crew of C&HV CL-5( the Columbus-Logan local) went dead on the law as the unit was parked in the clear on a industrial lead.

Oldies but Goodies. The Old Stuff.

    Is this NORMAL?

Actually that old saw may not always be true..I have bought P2K GP7/9/30s that had crack gears from the box!!! Nothing like removing a locomotive from the box and hearing that crack gear "thump, thump thump" during a test run.wall1 I sure enough didn't get what I paid for- a supposedly smooth...

    I'm Offically Mad At Kato

Kato like all manufacturers will stumble and fall.In HO there has been several issues to include wrong colors, missing road specific details, etc. There has been some issues with their N Scale as well-mostly missing road specific details and even their drives is no longer the smoothest performers..

    Western Maryland Thomas sub critique

For a protypical designed layout it gets the job done in a mighty big way.:thumb: As for me I would need more industries for better operation.

    Accurail Coupler pocket depth

Actually the coupler pockets was designed to accept the X2F coupler and never designed for the KD coupler and still being design that way because of the design of the KD coupler. Also the majority of the coupler boxes is out of scale!!

Theoretical size limit to rolling stock?

I always thought the SW1500 look big till I seen the MP15.Still nothing as come close of looking like brute force like the H24-66.What I am saying there is room for more but, within limitations due to curve radius-remember the Big Boy's limitations. Then there is locomotive and freight car weight...

    Accurail Coupler pocket depth

Matt,One way to over come this problem is to use the new 148 or the scale 153 coupler..However,I have slightly filed the inside of the coupler box in order to get the centering spring to fit.
