    how many is enough?

Then you are saying NO Railbox,NS,CSX,EEC GATX etc doesn't rumble through your area on through trains? Of course if you are taking about the Colorado coal routes to the mines then I can understand that. However,we are not discussing solid coal operation but,a switching layout which cars for a...

    how many is enough?

Absolutely! However,on my past ISL's I always like to have enough cars so I can rotate the inbounds at least 10 times that way when my G&N boxcar shows up there is no need to think:Gee,there's that green Greenville & Northern boxcar again. However, other roads like CSX,CR,NS,UP,Railbox etc...

    N scale radius versus HO

Ah,Enter "all things railroad"..There is no glory in step grades and sharp curves on railroads that is why many choose to follow river valleys and not climb a grade. That is why Saluda grade is no more. Tennessee pass was shut down by UP. As locomotives got larger and heavier those old...

    N scale radius versus HO

Well again IF he has a old airport hanger for a layout room. After all prototype curves was laid out as large as possible even on the mountainous division.I fully believe a sweeping 72" curve may be a little tight for main lines in some applications. Indeed it is hard to follow...

    N scale radius versus HO

Even at that our curves are still to sharp in most cases as our switches and needless to say most modeled grades are unrealistically steep. However, those are among several "evils" we must contend with in our miniature world unless of course one has a old airport hanger for his layout "room"...

    N scale radius versus HO

Serious N Scalers uses the largest curve possible.I perfer nothing less then 11" ..I will use 9 3/4" radius IF that is the largest I can use.

    Lifelike GP9RM

Well,I could understand a bad runner with the older GP18 drives as they were at best hit and miss unlike the upgraded GP18/20 which has been a proven smooth runner..The older GP18 has a cruel looking fuel tank fashion from a chunk of lead...This might be even better...
