Why not have the engine to "tip toe" through the creek? Logging railroads did last for years..When the timber was "worked out" it was time to move to the next "fall area"..So,everything including the mill was moved.

When steam was completely replace by diesels..Along came the ball caps,golf caps and Fedora hats.. Also gone was the traditional engineer bib overalls replace with blue jeans or Dickies work pants and regular shirts-short sleeves for summer and flannel shirts for winter.. My grandfather...

The definition of a "yard" varies from railroad to railroad. A yard can be one side track just as long as its designated as a yard on in the employee time table. A team track can be part of the freight house track lead.

No engineers hat here..I am more of a modern railroader that wears a ball cap just like I did when I was a brakeman.. In fact I don't recall that many former steam locomotive engineers that wearing those hats while I was braking on the PRR..Some wore Fedora hats while others wore golf hats..I...

The biggest problem in year sales,flea markets and estate auctions one doesn't know what the seller has.I found it better to go and take a look especially at the estate auctions-sorry if that sounds ghoulish-but,I found better models at these auctions. As far as E-bay..A lot of folk still...

I caught this car in Marion on the CSX..

I have around 45 Athearn RTR cars and 10 Atlas/Trainman cars.I have no problems running these with my older BB or Walthers cars..

Indeed it is a great place to watch trains.One can see up to 24 trains in 6-7 hours and if one comes on Sundays they can visit the Marion Model Railroad club between trains.Now cap that with nearby restaurants its hard to beat.

Why not rotate those surplus engines and cars? That way you don't need to use the same engine unless you are modeling a short line with very few locos.. What I have done over the years is "cull" out the cars and locomotives that I bought on a whim or those that no longer fill my needs..
