Why we see so many coal trains

NYNH&H, dude chill, some of us stated that you were not completely inform on the subject and suggested that you present both sides of the debate like this article in the news today,(http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,258462,00.html), we didn't call you any names. That is one of the reasons that...

    Train direction question (again)

Driving does reflect the type of driving. If you know what you are looking at you can tell if a driver likes to corner fast (oldest son), jack rabbit starts and hard braking (#3 son). The real reason for rotating tires is that the front tires on a car or truck have a bit of toe-in and caster...

Come on back to the caboose and get a cup of coffee [or sweet ice tea] Part I

Morning all. Started more tear out yesterday. Also started to add detail parts to a Kato SD45. Was in the low 50s and expected to be the same today with rain mixed with snow tonight. I know spring is here! The geese that nest on our creek came back yesterday morning! Have a great day! Rick

Why we see so many coal trains

Renovo, the coal loads coming through west Mn from ND are all coal. I never counted but I'd guess at 100 or more cars per train. Most of the time they are running more modern engines (2) but sometimes you will see older engines like some GP's and then they will have 3-5 engines depending on type...

Why we see so many coal trains

Yes we know that the earth warmed and cooled for a very long time but we only know temps for sure for about the last 110 years. Temps before that are a mere guess. Many scientist of very good reputation don't agree with the global warming theories. and in fact the average temp has gone up less...

Why we see so many coal trains

Makes me wonder about the 6 or 7 lead scientist who were working on the UN global warming and quit because they say that it's junk science that is putting out the global warming data and the warming we are seeing right now is just a natural warming of the earth? Man thats a lot of coal. The...

    Train direction question (again)

All of my modern engines have can motors, the gears are in the trucks. Looking at them closely and the only wear that direction would affect is not gear wear, it would be wear on the wheels were they make contact with the track and the frame to truck pivot point. There is no side stress put on...

    Train direction question (again)

Agreed, you are not reversing the direction of force on the gear teeth my turning the engine around and running it the other way around the track. I'm thinking someone started that as a joke and now that its getting around at train show and on the net is really laughing his/her *** off. The...
