Does the left column annoy you?

I'm am plum ignorant about what size resolution I have. All I know is that everything is easy to read, the print is big and easy to read and I don't have to scroll left or right or anything like that to read. I have been to websites where I have to scroll side to side to read a paragraphs so I...

    Which flextrack?

Thanks for all the replies. I really appreciate it. I probably will go with Model Power silvernickel code 100 flextrack on sale for $119. per 100 since there were no negatives about it. Thanks again.

    Which flextrack?

Which HO flextrack? Does it make any difference which brand of HO flextrack I use? I only have Bachmann EZ track now which I believe is code 100. I have found some Model Power code 100 on sale but have heard Atlas is preferred. Decisions, decisions? My main concern is reliability, not realism.

Wow, looks like we're back in business

Is that why I was told to switch to RC model airplanes?????

    Homosote or Cork ?

I can't find homosote at Lowe's or Home Depot either so I called some lumber yards listed in the yellow pages and found one that would bring in as many 4 X 8 sheets that I needed for about $22.00 a piece. I also found an article in an old Model Railroader magazine that showed how a London club...

    Homosote or Cork ?

Does anybody use homosote anymore for the roadbed or is it a thing of the past? I am debating between homosote and cork and wonder if one is better than the other for quietness of the railroad.

    Model Power Sf Metaltrain

Well, I think I am getting use to a heavier train set. All the others that I have owned had plastic bodies and much, much lighter. I set it up temporally on a hard plywood train table and ran it on the Bachmann EZ track that came with the set. It has a quality power pack and the locomotive runs...

    Model Power Sf Metaltrain

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHMD5&P=BR Check out this train set that I just purchased. I had no idea how heavy this all metal train would be. It seems strange compared to the Bachmann, Altas, an AHM plastic bodies. I am not sure I like this or not??? Any opinions would be...

    Opinion on Walthers code 83

Jas----I was advised to be careful about buying old locomotives on eBay with deep "cookie cutter" flanges that are not compatible with code 83. You might research this a little more. I wonder if all currently manufactured HO engines are compatible with code 83 or if there are any exceptions. And...

    Stepping down from the forums

Maybe this means a big pay raise or bonus or something and you can get that "high-dollar-ain't-she-just-dandy" HO locomotive and just put in on a display shelf and have a grand dream. Good luck and take care.

    Smoke unit repair???

Thanks for the instructions. Now all I have to do is find time to do it. Thanks again.

    smoke

I have a Bachmann 0-6-0 with a smoke unit on a very small display unit. My grandson likes to see the locomotive smoke so I use the liquid smoke when he's around. Sooner or later, I have to clean the track with denatured alcohol on an old T-shirt as it will start running poorly because after the...

    Smoke unit repair???

My 4 year old grandson damaged a little Bachmann 0-6-0 which I managed to repair after three days of exasperation. It runs again but the smoke unit is not up to par. I took it apart again and noticed two thin wires from the headlight didn't seem to connect anywhere. :( Also, there is...

    Talking about oil ????

No one responded to this question on a thread a while back so I am taking the liberty of posting it again. Thanks Talking about oil, I saw a model railroad kit somewhere for sale that offered oil, grease, and I can't remember what the third item was. Anyway, does anyone own one of these...

    Easy to read print----

I just want to compliment The Gauge on the size of their font/print. It is great for this old man's eyes. I visited another model train forum and their print is just too small. Whoever made this great decision, give yourself a pat on the back.

    Accrurail couplers

Thanks Roger. Talk about helpful. That site was great. Thanks again. I'm tired and it's too late to play with the couplers tonight. The brain is willing but the body is not. LOL I ran the train today and it does okay 99% of the time. On rare occasions, a coupler will disengage. I share your...

    Accrurail couplers

I put my first Accurail hopper kit together last night, actually it was a kit of three hoppers. Instruction # 4 advised me to install my choice of couplers that were supplied in the boxes. Apparently, there are three different types of couplers. I couldn't decide which one so I just winged it...

    Which Xuron???

Hmmmm, very interesting, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I wonder if they charge more for one than the other? Or the grade of steel might be different but that doesn't seem likely if they have the same part number.

    New York Central fans

Well, I'm starting to collect stuff to decorate a train wall so I'll guess 4.

    Which Xuron???

I read that the Xuron Flush Shear Cutter is the "daddy rabbit" or the "cat's meow" when it comes to having the best tool to cut flex track. I thought I would ask for recommendations since there are so many models from which to choose. So do you own one and if you had to do it all over again...
