    novice knows nothing of polarity

Speak for yourself, Torp. (insert smilie here) The DC mtr runs CW or CCW depending on polarity. When you pick up a loco running fwd, and turn it 180, the polarity is reversed, the mtr runs in the opposite direction, so the loco goes backwards. I understand this, and I'm crazy. (just...

New guy & question about passenger cars

Including the walking space all around the layout, what are the real dimensions you will be occupuying? It seems likely that you need space in the center, and that you would get longer runs and wider curves going around-the-walls rather than on a table-top in that space.

    Curve Question:

As long as we're bein' so technical and all... "parallel curves (′par·ə′lel ′kərvz) (mathematics) Two curves such that one curve is the locus of points on the normals to the other curve at a fixed distance along the normals." - answers.com I guess " parallel curves" is OK after all...

    Walthers 90' TT

I am resurrecting a basket case that was already on the museum layout when I started there. Everything critical to running is present save one of the two drive worms. Anyone happen to have one, either on or off the intermediate drive shaft ? Reckon I would have any luck calling Walthers? The...

    Curve Question:

That's one nice car you bought! Do you really want to run it an inch from the table edge, on elevated tracks? It's hard to picture what you want the finished layout to represent. It looks like you need 10-15% grade to get up from the lower level. It's quite steep and might be tough for...

    Curve Question:

First, Russ us right on about the flex track. If you want Atlas sectional track it's #532 18" radius sections (6-pack) and #535 22" radius sections (6-pack) It takes 8 sections to turn 180 degrees, and don't ask why they come in packs of six! (The HDB syndrome) I suggest you...
