    air brush

You probably will dislike using the cans. A small oil-less compressor is best. Some can be pricey, but check Walmart

Erratic operation of a ready to run MRC in Roundhouse Engine

This may also be caused by a defective pickup on one set of wheels. May run OK on some of the track but have problems where dirty track or poor track feed leaves a dead spot that the good pickup stalls on. If all pickups were OK, it would go right over that spot. Are the other locos which...

    Hospital

Hey man, I know getting all-the-way well is a tall order, but at least try to get back to half-way well like the rest of us!!!! Best wishes from all of us, I'm sure!!

    Sorry!

Lotta knee**** reaction to the new forum look. One thing I noticed was that we now have an index to unread posts, not just new ones since last visit!! This is a good feature, I think. In all fairness to the moderators who have put in a lot of effort to make this a sucessful forum, maybe we...

    Grandpa's Antique Model Trains

See if there's a TCA group near you, they might help you with appraisal. :thumb: If it's three-rail O or S, it's more likely to have some value than old HO, unless there are some brass pieces, which is a whole different game.announce1 But is anyone interested, that's the question! If the...

    Train shelves

A 6' by 2' shelf is large enough for an operating switching layout, if you are interested. For that purpose you may want some smaller locomotives, 4-4-0, 0-4-0, 0-6-0, for example, or diesel switchers. If you are interested in N scale, it's plenty of room for an operating layout with continuous...

Dumb question, but did you check the wheel gauge with an NMRA gauge?

    Train World

I like dealing with Trainworld and always recommend 'em for Atlas track, etc. Wish they stocked PECO. :)

Hi lester, if you're not locked in to the LHS try: http://www.cchobbies.com/track/pecocode83.htm for good PECO pricing and stock. Good Luck!:)

    Somebody stop me!

Gary S., I believe you could solder a solid wire to an 0-80 brass nut, then using the wire as a handle, slide the nut under the tab and put a screw down through the tab to secure it. Just solder sparingly so as not to get solder in the threads.

    Can't find my sign!

Andrew, this is a scan of a sheet of Blair Line HO signs. They even come with posts to mount 'em! Not bad looking signs. I think I might use the Mountain Man's "Crew Rest Stop" suggestion!:D Hey Russ, that sounds about right! Only thing is, ya gotta do something to be able to do...

    Best price on Peco

http://www.cchobbies.com/track/pecocode83.htm Good stock and quick shipment.:thumb: Trainworld still the best for Atlas, though. Any other good PECO sources?

    Lift Bridge

I really like BigJim's solution!! Thanks, Jim!:thumb: Letting the roadbed locate the rail is great, and having no rail edges at the opening will save a lot of snags!! I think this ought to be archived as a GRP (Gauge Recommended Practice) :)

    Wire Gauge

That #10 would make good trees. :thumb: Probably wouldn't make good feeders.

    Mixing code 100 and 83

I think I read something like that also, Josh, thanks. :thumb: I'm interested to know the height of the Peco Code 83 turnouts vs. the Atlas Code 83 Flex Track, specifically. I guess it don't matter that much, just wondering if I would have to shim in order to replace Super Switches with Peco.:)

    Mixing code 100 and 83

If you have Atlas track, the top of the rails will already be at the same height. The Code 83 ties are 0.017" thicker than the Code 100 ties. The transition joiner jogs up to match the bottoms of the rails. If they are too tight, spread them slightly. Touching up the cut ends of the rail flange...

    Duckunders and lift outs

Hi xpt rail, Putting your bench top at 50" height improves the duckunder clearance and provides a more realistic viewing angle.:thumb: :)

    Can't find my sign!

Would y'all look at this scan and tell me what the "P" sign means??? I think I know these: "W" - whistle post "X" - multiple grade crossing (used under the "W") "S" - speed limit Double numbers - Pass./ Freight speed limits (approach) Also I'm unsure about the angled speed limit signs. I...
