    Wheel slippage

    My layout that I am in the process of building has a 3% grade on it. With only 11 cars hooked to the engine the wheels are slipping. Is there anything I can do to help this? At some point I am going to have two engines pulling this train will that help?

    The big boy has been moved to the museum. nkp174 if you mean turn the 4-8-8-4 as on their turn table, no they can't the big boy is to long. If I remember right it measured 132 feet in length.

    Very easy formula 1% = 1" rise in 100 inches, 2%= 2" rise in 100 inches and so on.

    Im getting ready to wire it so I can get a train on it. I havent did to much sodering so I'm not sure how that will go. After I know things are running smoothly Im going to glue the track down and then I think I am going to start working on the mountains.

    Got my roadbed finished. Well almost finished the area in the yard that is not finished is because a two stall locomotive shed is going to go there and I want to wait till I get that so I know exactly where those two sections of track will go.

    I got all the track straight and pinned it down so it wouldnt move. Then I figured I can take small sections out to put down the bed and everything should line right back up.

    I can highly recommend http://www.blwnscale.com/ . They are the cheapest I found on the web and I ordered my stuff on a Friday and was at my door on Monday. Only draw back as far as I can tell they only sell N scale. Thats what I am modeling so it works for me. Hope this helps someone.
