    new layout photos

Now that the holidays are over and I got my train room back ( Christmas boxes stored in the room) I was able to get back to work. My main focus has been on getting the second mountain completed. It is not quiet finished but close enough for some pictures. Here it is under constuction...

    question about steam and radius

I recently bought a 2-6-0 steam engine off ebay for a little bit of nothing. The engine itself does not work so good (get what you pay for) but it almost completely stops on the turns. The tightest turns on my layout are 11". I guess my question is do you think the turns are to tight or just a...

    My little christmas display

I did a little bit of touching up and think I can call this finished now. I added a few more trees a few more gifts and painted a rock face right outside the tunnel portals. Only thing I may still do is add a cabin up among the trees. Only thing I can find in N scale cabins is anywhere...

    My little christmas display

I was wondering how long it would take someone to notice the snow outside. First snow of the season here. Now if I could make the snow on my layout look more like the stuff outside I would be happy. Oh well still looks like Christmas and overall I am happy how it turned out. I might also...

    My little christmas display

Here is a picture of my little christmas display I built. I still have a little touching up to do at spots but for the most part it is finished. I might add a few more trees and maybe a little cabin. As for the snow I used woodland scenics snow I must say I hope I never put snow on any of my...

    Pre-Ordered a big boy

The big boy is one of my favorite engines and I would like to have one myself. The problem is I dont think the big boy would make my tight 11" turns . Who knows maybe I will eventually get one anyway just to have it on display as an out of service engine. :thumb:

Thank you all for your help. I guess if I decide to build it I will go the DC throttle route. I think I have one laying around somewhere.

    electricaly stupid

I have been thinking about doing a very small christmas layout if thats what you want to call it. Its actually more of a decoration. My idea was to take one of those small christmas trees you can get at the store the ones that are like 2 feet tall and then put an N scale train running under it...

    Mounting roadbed & track

I had thought about that myself but I have put down small sections of ballast at some of my tunnels and have not noticed any problems. Although to be honest I havent actually checked to see if the track came loose.

    Mounting roadbed & track

When I glued my track down I used regular white elmers glue diluted with a little bit of water. I used a paint brush to put the glue on the road bed then put the track on it. I used some small pins to hold the track down while it dried. Has held so far with no problems. Plus I figure once the...

    Dirty track and YOU

The only time I have cleaned my track so far was right after I spray painted it. I put a piece of cloth (old t-shirt) around a sanding block and then put some rubbing alcohol on it and cleand the whole track in no time.

Wow its been a long time since I updated this but I have made a little progress. I kinda took the summer off but I'm starting to get back into the swing of things. Since I last posted I got all my track glued painted and added a couple of bridges. I also got started on building the first...

    back from a long rest

Do pass your secret formula on because all I have ballasted so far is about 4 inches inside each of my tunnel portals and I can tell its not going to be a fun task.

    Which Code?

If you didnt buy plywood yet you may want to check into foam board like they use to insulate house walls. If you have any plans of putting a stream in you can easily carve into it. Also it is easy to push small pins into to hold your track in place until you glue it. It also might be cheaper...
