    Doubting RTS

Well, I got the Xtrkcad downloaded and got rid of RTS. Man this program is hard to work with. I can't even get one piece of track to stay on the friggin' screen. I think I'll just wait and hire a professional track designer. I haven't started pulling out my hair yet but I'm close enough that I...

    Freight Car Scale?

UP's North Platt yard in Nebraska is known as the world's largest rail yard. From what the History channel say's it's 8 miles long and 2 miles wide. Now that's a yard. They showed the scales that the car's are weighed on right before they are cut loose on the top of the hump. Pretty neat...

    Doubting RTS

I'm starting to have some serious doubt's about Atlas' program. The only one I've ever used so far but after waking up getting dressed and going next door I stand there for about 20 minutes looking and really giving the room the eye ball. I look at a hand full of trains on my work desk and note...

    Modifying An atlas turntable?

I wouldn't recomend it do to the fact turn tables arn't very cheap. However there is a company that is listed in just about every issue of MR mag. the make's custom turn tables. Look around and see. If you don't mind shellin out for another one then that would be the best way to go.

A Visit to the Mechanical Services of the C P Yards at Scarborough

Never heard about this story. Was anyone injured in the explosion? It look's like big chunk's of tank car pierced into the nose of the locomotive. It can't be to bad though. Maybe some work, new part's repaint and sell of to some small line railroad.

    Road ~ vs. ~ Rail?

I'm stumped. There are two thing's I can think of right now but a few that don't make sense. One happen's to be couplers. Why is there a hole straight through the knuckle and what are those four hole's on the side for? Another thing, if it's trains vs. trucks then why do trucks haul truck side...

    something new on the eg&e

I saw an old Alco up in El Darado, AR. I'm not sure if it was an RS series though even though it looked to be so, only thing that I didn't get was the number boards on the front they were curved around the corner's of the nose. However it looked to be an ex New Haven locomotive now being used...

    Canyon model

Not that I know of but I did happen to look at a Large scale mag that a guy used a 48' drop deck flat bed semi trailer(brand new) and built a layout out on the whole thing then the Western Star truck company thought it was a really neat thing he was doing so they loaned him a brand new...

    Canyon model

UP baggage car you say? It's well worth it if the car is in good condition. Our club has an 80' heavy weight IC dinning car that was put on a piece of track and turned into our club house. It's nothing but trains inside. The car has under gone A LOT of repair work over the last ten year's but...

    Operational switching layouts

Well, after taking a day off away from any planning here is something I came up with. This yard design that I took from another layout drawing gave me 6 tracks and 1' extra to play with and fit in the A&D and RIP tracks. The green track I added from another drawing. Now I'm stumped as to what...

    Table out of storage

So far the best thing that a lot of us modelers have found good for track and wheels is "Goo Gone" Great stuff! Smell's like orange's too! You can get it at your local hardware store.

    Operational switching layouts

I give up. I've been sitting on this computer day after day for hour's at a time trying to get something together and just when I think I have it a problem presents itself. I've had several already made design's that I tried to incorprate into the yard I want and it's just not working. Boy have...

    Operational switching layouts

Thank's for that link Shortliner. Someone (may have been you) posted that lin about a year ago and for the life of me I could never find it and it happens to be one of the main one's I have been looking for, for a long time now. Loudmusic, I thought about that. I really wanted the class. yard...

    Operational switching layouts

OK, after daaay's of many hour's sitting here trying to decide I finally got my bench work how I want it and it is a permanent stay. I've gotten the yard drawn out how I want it but I can't seem to get two locomotive servicing tracks, one A & one D track (two tracks total for the A&D) and a RIP...

    Operational switching layouts

No, I don'y want the whole thing to be a yard just part. In with a 4 track classifacation yard and an entrance track coming up to the switching lead like that plan is designed. I only need one RIP track but I need to locomotive servicing tracks. An A & D track would be nice. I've been doing...

    Operational switching layouts

OK, the blue box at the end of the layout is "roughly" where the breaker box is located. I'm taking the 4'x5' module island out of the design do to other thing's I have to have in the room but if I can fit it in I want to fit in an island just big enough to hold a turn around "Y" to reverse two...

    Operational switching layouts

The 8' section is in reference to two 4' modules. With 3' wide on the 17' section adding it in making 4'+4'=8' leading to 10' over all. N, the bench work won't be started ntil I have a sure deal design that I'm going to stick with for my main design other wise I'd hate to build benchwork and...

    Operational switching layouts

OK. I did some re-planningannounce1 . Here is the benchwork drawn out using RTS and regular old paint shop. Now it's trying to get a track plan down on it. I still haven't gotten a response on the yard design and trying to size it down to fit in the 17' stretch. Any idea's guy's?
