    Pizza box modulars

Starting in a swamp and 6 feet later your in the desert. When I was younger I didn't mind this but no it's something that's starting to bother me. If I build a full continuous run layout then I would build half in the west and half of the east so I could have some gold's and browns but still...

    flex vs hand laid track

Proto87 track is the ultimate in handlaid track hands down. I saw a good who used it and detailed it to the fullest extent. I like ready made track but some times it just seems to easy. I figured I would just build my layout starting with the track work decking it out in deatails and then move...

    Power-Loc Switches

To say the least and I've tated this so many times on this site that I have lostcont and many can vouch for me on that but Power-Loc & EZ track is trash. Not even worth wasting a dime on. Their switch's are very unreliable and can't handle 6 axle locomotives because they are pretty sharp. I...

Don't know what these are called

Yea, they are used mostly for cold storage and dry good's warehouses to keep the dock dry and seal it up to keep thing from coming in and cold from going out. We have them on our docks and also help keep warmth in when it's cold out.

    UP 200 ton crane question?

I don't have time right now but as soon as I can if you can bare with me I'll hook up a couple of pictures of mine. They aren't good but they show the color and some neat thing's I've added plus the steam exhaust stack I removed and made into a more modern unit.

Kato problems. Anyone have it to?

Well, I'm getting to where I don't have much time because I'm always working. Plus if I spend that much money on something then I expect it to work right, right out of the box. I've never had a problem with any locomotive out of the box until I got these. I'll just let them give me new ones...

Kato problems. Anyone have it to?

I contacted Kato via e-mail last night and got a fast response as to the last couple I sent took a few weeks to be replied to. The e-mail states as follows. : Charles: Thank you for your interest and support of our products. Please return both units, packed in their original boxes. Include...

Kato problems. Anyone have it to?

Well, I'm going to leave that option open. Not use it yet but leave it open because I wrote a complaint to Kato about it. Why produce a locomotive and sell it without fully testing it's design first? It's a faulty design and they put it on the market. They should be reliable for for pulling in...

    Ebay rant

I agree with everybody. Re-list and don't except him in another auction. It's jsut that time of year when scam artists really come out of the wood work and their shells. Just makes you want to find the worlds largest idiot bomb and blow it up. It's sad good people like us here trying to get...

Kato problems. Anyone have it to?

Thanks Scott. See I had the guy's in our club have a look and they've never seen these before either. I guess this is why the guy I bought them from was trying to get rid of them. The club guy's said something about soldering a very small wire from the truck to the pick up bracket on the side of...

    Sergent coupler report!

As stated the biggest issue is manual uncoupling. It's the only way they can be used. Price...... ehhhh well, considering what it takes for one guy to produce by his self, with molds, packaging, plastic container box's and other part's like magnets. It's about right. Kadee makes them fast and...

    Sergent coupler report!

As Cid stated to Jeffery's question. No they are not compatible. However, as the Sergent website FAQ page states to someone else question. " Are Sergent coupler's compatible with other brands"? Answer: No. How ever it is also stated that some user's have reported success of mating a Sergent...

    Sergent coupler report!

I had the same problem with all of my Walthers car's. I found that It's easier to not file but sand the coupler lid down and not the coupler it self. The Walther's draft gear box's are "shallow" compaired to other makers and even made a Kadee a tad bit stiff with the centering spring in place...

Kato problems. Anyone have it to?

I bought 2 Kato SD40-2's durning the summer and got to run them for the first time today. I've never seen a Kato setup like these are. They have a copper strip running down both sides of the frame under the walk way that picks up current from the trucks. One of them only get's current when you...

    Sergent coupler report!

OK, here it is for those of you who are or want to start using Sergent coupler's. I'm sure who has and hasn't but some have stated thing's about using Sergent's on a modular layout. Well, I ran a full train today with three locomotives on the head and something like 40 cars on our club layout...

    Something Special

All right. ::insert clap here:: It's amazing what one single such thing can do to turn your life around in a split second. As being a modular club member for many years now and trying to play trains when I can which isn't offten anymore I'm going down to Shriner's hospital tomorrow to play...

    Just something I'm curious to...

I just started a new job with a company called AI here in Shreveport and what they do is assembly of the motors & transmissions and sequencing of other part's such as axles, leaf spring's, shocks, lights and fron't rear and side flare panels (not sure all what else) for the Hummer 3's at GM. I do...

    RCL Remote Control Locomotives

Well, I know one of the UP yard's over here in Shreveport (west side of town) run's 2 RCL's with strobe warning light's on the roof's. The entrance to the yard is marked with a warning sign about RCL's. This yard is a pretty good size and handles just about every thing but mostly autoracks for...

Why Is Z Gauge So Expensive?

Well, another issue would be operation. A lot more people are starting to get into operations these days and it can't be done in Z and very hard to do in N.
