Assembled on body

Hi everyone,

I had to pause the assembly for a while due to some family matters, but now I’m back.

I left off at finishing the rear wall, which includes the main muffler, the auxiliary motor muffler, and some other small details.

Aside from the usual errors with strip lengths, there’s a serious issue with the main muffler—two strange pipes are sticking out in front of it. You’ll need to remove them and mask the gluing marks. As always, the drawings don’t completely match the assembly and the real thing, so pay close attention.

Unfortunately, I lost the picture of the cut parts.

Got to assemble the fenders/mudguards.
Odd decisions with gluing marks and paint—and, of course, this one big part must be painted by the assembler on the inner side. Probably due to a lack of space in the book or because it would be too thick if made as two separate parts.

Nevertheless, I painted it in a close color shade, and eventually, it will be hidden above the tracks.

There are two mistakes in the instructions:

  • The gluing signs on parts 87 are incorrect—where it says "left," it should be "right," and vice versa.
  • Part 87eL must be glued on the right side (reversed), and part 87eR must be glued on the left side.

As usual, there was little help from the drawings, so I had to turn to internet references to understand exactly how to glue the fenders and small parts.

Also, this was the right time to glue the rear hooks.

This is looking so good, it's indescribable. Question, is the Zimmerit coating actual texture or just printed?

Thanks Micah. It's hybrid - 3d printed on special paper that has Zimmerit like texture. I showed it in the beginning of the thread. Every detail that is Zimmerit printed double on regular pages in the book and on special page (you can see it in first post). You can choose what to use :)

These set of pictures show impeccable workmanship. Seeing some of those parts laid out, they just don't seem like they can form the part made out of them. No seams, glue marks. This is top notch. :)

Finished assembling the full set of tools:
Jack, shovels, axes, extinguisher, etc.
Also installed the front towing hooks, main headlights, rear light, and antenna base.

There were no markings on the fenders showing where to mount everything, and—as usual—the drawings either lacked any useful references or were just wrong. So, about half of the placement ended up being improvised.
