Just call me Mr January

My local scale model group has made me very humbled indeed...

Pictured by the Local Groups Admin at the December meet-up my Moon Bus was made the header card for our January facebook page.

Whilst none of the three models I entered won the the top three slots, they were heavily scrutinised and many questions asked. A few didn't even notice they were card!

So, as the only full-on card model maker within our group I was very happy with this small gesture.

"a small leap for carded modellers everywhere!"

I think it's great that you have a modeling club. People are just too snobby and uptight where I live to have that kind of friendly social interaction.

I found my local club through the IPMS - whilst I don't quite fit the 'norm' for plastic modellers - nearly all the clubs model makers are plastic kit, military based - at least here upon this forum we all are in the same club, with no snobs! :)

The peoples Republic of Connecticut? Like the PRMa?
Connecticut is not a left wing state, not at all. On a local level, most towns are Republican, on a Federal Level, the state is firmly Democratic. We have a robust defensive industry, and many of the countries main defense weapons come from Connecticut. We tend to be left wing on Medical Benefits, and far
to the right when it comes to national defense. On the whole, the state is Centrist. We have what's called the "Gold coast, that starts from Stamford to New York. An extremely wealthy part of the country. There are areas that are kind of uppity and cold, and others that are very neighborly, if you live there. The town I live in is a bit snooty. Covid has had people from over crowded places from N.Y. come into town and nuy every house on sale, and have driven home prices up. There is no easy line to draw in Connecticut, it's just the spots that are snooty are well known, and the "normal" areas are too. You won't find many "Election Deniers" here though. When we find them, they have to wear a Scarlet "T" on their foreheads...........only joking of course, after all, we produced the only Independent Senator in/for how many years, and our populace for the most part know how to read.

Upstate New York is not snobbish at all. I don't know where that comes from. I ride my motorcycle in upstate New York a lot, and find it to be a very friendly state. ar more friendly than the 3 months experience Ii had in the U.K.. Of course, the U.K. I visited doesn't exist anymore from the Brits who have immigrated to the U.S. have said. I was there in 1974, they said that was the Old U.K. and nothing to do with what's going on now. I think people make a lot of general statements about areas without possibly being able to be accurate. Connecticut is a very old state and established. It's ways are known to me, and the average person is quite intelligent. They aren't very sociable, that's all, though that all changes at the parks and beaches. :)

It's only 160 miles long, blink, and you've driven through the state. Considering the GDP of the state, it is rather tiny. Funny thing is that the Northern halve of the state is all magnificent forests. It used to be steel mills up there for the Revolutionary through the Civil war, now it looks like nothing was ever done there, when in fact, it was virtually deforested. ;)
