My Black Friday from last week purchases finally all arrived.
First, I am in no way a trekkie, no even close. I just happen to like the Enterprise design, both old and new, and a few other Starfleet ship designs too.
I have never owned a Star Trek model before. For decades, I have told myself I will buy this or that one of this day, but not today. Today I'm looking for something else. Well, that day came.
At first, I was only going to buy the 1/350 Refit and the decals. But then I see the 1/350 3-in-one old version, and I have to get that too. From there on, snowball downhill. Good thing I am very picky about what I like; otherwise, I would be looking at maybe a dozen more kits sitting there.
I don't know when I will have time to build them. I have too many hobbies going on at the same time, with work and family ~ could be never. But I enjoy taking them out the box and looking at them. I'm more of a collector than a modeler nowadays anyway.

Thats a nice purchase you got. Time is a short thing and verry expansive to waste. I hope you find time to build them and I hope to follow your building thread.

You're going to need a few lifetimes to build all the stuff you have!! I'm in the same position. I actually sold one of my Monogram 1/8th scale Jaguar XKE's. I paid $40 bucks for it, I got $300 for it. I still have one left. ;)

I watched Strat Trek Into Darkness again to get inspiration, and I'm surprise the USS Vengeance still not available as a kit yet. I love to have that kit maybe in 1/500. In 1/350 will be way too big to display anywhere in the house.
I'm think I will build the 1/350 Refit first when I get to it. I got the lighting kit for one of the small version so I'm thinking getting a light kit for the big one too. But that light kit is so much more expensive, cost way more than the plastic kit. :(

Nice haul!

I have the Discovery Enterprise, too, along with the oversized decal sheets. This is an awesome model! Designed for lighting and the design is one of the best re-imaginations of the old E. The original paintscheme comes very close to the NX-01 but I would love to see it in the refit colours, almost white with pearlescent aztec pattern. That might be very interesting. And yes, those lighting kits ARE expensive, oh boy. Trust me, with some elbow grease you can achieve even better results for a fraction of the cost. Even light-blocking the shell, drilling out some window holes and adding a cheap LED strip inside works wonders. :)

I was debating whether to get the 1/350 scale E but then Rawen's 1/400 paper model came along. I think I'll stay with a reduced version of the paper one for the time being, mostly due to space issues. The old AMT model was tempting but it has so many issues that I just could not add it to my collection. :)

I got myself the Nevarro Cantina set and the animatronic Lola from Hasbro for 45% of the original retail price in Germany, so it was an awesome Black Friday deal. Lola is just adorable. A masterpiece of engineering and as such I would say it does not belong in small kid's hands in order to prevent breakage. Adam opened her up and it is amazing to see that only one motor powers all actions:

The accessories of the cantina set will be used in a Jabba's palace diorama later, once the throne room arrives next year. The set is nice but not 80 € nice (this is what it usually costs here), so I was playing the waiting game. In the end it paid off nicely. If I would sell off the exclusive pack-in figure I might come out even and have the walls and accessories for free. IF I would, of course. ;)

I opened all those kits this morning to check them out. The 1/350 are huge. I know those kits are big. But they are a lot bigger in person for some reason. The aftermarket decals set for the 1/350 Refit are beautiful. For sure, I will have to get lighting kits for both Refit and 3-in-1.

The most challenging kit to build, I think, is the Polar Lights 1/1000. The kit is beautiful. And the aftermarket decals set for that is amazing. Putting on the little decals and lining them all up could be the most challenging part of that build for me.

And the easiest is either the Polar Light 1/1000 USS Reliant from the Wrath of Khan. Or the amt 1/537 Refit. That Refit is big but only has eight clear pieces for the navigation lights. So if I am going to build anything soon, it will be that kit.

And I was looking at the Revell 1/500 kit. In the movie "Into Darkness" the interior of that Enterprise is crazy massive. It appears much larger than the original starship and looks like the latest ship is twice the original size. So I'm thinking instead of 1/500, it is more like 1/1000.

I'm excited about this collection and hope to find aftermarket decals set for all of them.
