I'm from the Netherlands and live nearby Amsterdam.
Always wanted to make something from paper.
Did lots off browsing on papercraft and found you guy's.
My first project is the uhu02 Tie.

A other hobby is making loudspeaker boxes.

Kind regards,

Welcome to Zealot. I too dabble in making speakers. I have made Electrostatic and 1/4 tapered quarter wave tubes, which to me have a great sound for the money. We have a few threads on the UHU Tie Fighter model you can search for to get some reference. Welcome to Zealot. Thanks for posting an Introduction. Feel free to post post pictures of anything you have made in this thread, including your speakers. :)

Hello and welcome to Zealot! Those speaker are AMAZING! My father was an audiophile and would have loved having a set of speakers like that.

You have indeed come to the right place for all things paper (and other mediums, to include plastic). Many of our members are HUGE SCI-FI geeks (myself included). SO, I hope that will help you feel more at home here.

If you have any questions, concerns, need help or advice, please feel free to ask, and we will do what we can to help you (or at least point you in the right direction).

If you have any photos of any of your paper models, by all means, please post photos. We love seeing photos.
Speaking about photos; when you are building new projects, I would like to encourage you to post build threads. Build threads are a great way to show off your skills and techniques, as well as highlight problems areas that you may have issues with or have come up with a solution for said problems.

Once again welcome aboard. I hope that you feel at home and enjoy yourself here. I look forward to seeing your work!

Good looking speakers. Personally, I never liked passive speakers because of phase issues, but your ear tells you if you did it right, and if they sound good to you, that's all that matters. I found after making a around 5 sets of 4'x3' foot Electrostatic panels, their line source give such a narrow sound bubble, they were really only good for one or two people listening. They also produce Ozone, so the room should be ventilated. I found tapered quarter wave tubes tuned to the Fs of the lowest frequency, and using a Piezo Electric horn tweeter, which created it's own capacitive feed back, which requires no crossover network, gives IMHO the most holography for the buck. Those speakers look like the can really crank it out, yet fill the room with sensible levels of sound too. ;)

I used to build a speaker back in the day...before electro was around...but the lower section was 2, 12" full-range basses...center section was 4 10" full-range mid-range and two 4 " HC tweeters, two of these combined and flipped 180, and on the very top, HC Horn and HC tweeter. Lower section speaker panel slanted 20 degrees as well as the top section towards the ground...4 full sections in each corner of the room facing to center...combine that with a QL synthesizer/decoder ( 4 channel stereo from the 70s') each unit with a 3 channel cross-over network...Not recommended to crank it up, but even on lower volumes, you could hear the subtle nuances, like individual voices in a live concert...Dark Side of the Moon..OMG

Presently I am rebuilding the brakes on my Subaru Forester and rerouting the rear brake lines, as Subaru put them in the worst possible place. They even had a recall for three years because of problems, but this car is too old for that. Then my Ford Taurus comes next, new manifold gasket, and plugs, and then.........the list goes on. It's 1:1 scale model building. :)
