Thanks, did you notice the lower ring hand rails? by the way it only took 2 minutes to cut. Ok, that alone is worth getting a machine cutter , unless you are a Japanese family sensei passing on your traditional micro-cutting razor technique for another thousand years.

Still plugging along, but I tell you all this 2020 stuff is getting tedious. The heat, the news, the day to day long haul. [''whew!''].

I hear that...really reminds me of the '60s two-fold!

...so how do you like cutting them curves??? that alone is worth buying one. IMHO
oh forgot to mention Tank-treads tire treads !!! If you trace just one inside say Inkscape or any vector program all you have to do is duplicate as many times as needed...and hit CUT !!!

Thanks for the tip! I will do that on Surfduke's new chariot treads. that huge ex-large pizza sized saucer is hand cut. Nerve racking. I hope it comes out good! I am going to use that black foam board and wood dowels for the inner support. Also redrew a big KD7 in lavender purple and gray green , using aquamarine leds and turquoise blue leds. Working out the bugs and extras.

Choosing how to set up black foam cutting on RonC's big 1701. my idea is to thicken up the pieces by gluing them to black foam board-and poster sheets for the window parts. I don't know how to cut foam board. Any ideas? I guess I will use a Exacto knife or box cutter?

Cut with a Click Knife if you got one... then you can extend the blade to cut deeper...as soon as you cut through the first side the knife will go through the foam like it isn't there and you will poke through the backside...You also need a really sharp blade ( new x-acto) if not it might drag the foam and end up pulling out chunks...a Box Cutter Blade is just too wide for a good cut...and may collapse the edges of the skin. Also...it takes very little pressure to collapse and put a dimple in it...so if your cutting straight edges..add a strip of masking tape to the back of your straight-edge, helps stopping it from slipping.

so from what you all say, the round circles and curves are where the accidents and crumples happen. I am not sure what the backing is...on the non- cutting side of the actual blade? Can you show a pic please?

Must foam board is a foam layer sandwiched by two sheets of paper, I use a self healing cutting mat for all my projects, that way the blade can pass thru the piece being cut, and glide on or thru the mat surface. If you have a free curve, or French Curve set, use them to guide the blade on the curved cuts. Otherwise just go slow and easy on the curves.

I thought about making my own cardboard stencils, and using those on the foam cuts. thanks, i might actually go get a french curvey plastic thing like we used in school! that is a good idea on the sticky mat! that will hold the foam still while I cut.

There isn't a non-cutting edge it is on both sides of the blade I use the 9mm Black extra sharp blades from Amazon and a cheap plastic handle..
