Try This for Dave’s example x/12 is = to 55/100
You multiply 12*55 then divide by 100
So 12*55=660
Then 660 divide by 100 = 6.6
You put the percentage over 100 and x over the number you have
In real life say you wanted O scale that’s 48 to 1
That would be x/1 is = to 48 /100
