LiPo for 1/10 Aventador

This is the next model I want to buy, and the first one in 1/10 scale.

MaistoTech's Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4.

I will make two modifications on it: the first one it's a piece of cake, removing the underside bumpers.

But the other modification is finding a compatible LiPo battery, or any other compatible battery that can give it the most of power and speed.

I heard around it's possible to find it around; I am expecting any RC pro, or any MaistoTech owner who was able to realize this trick. (^^)

I would not even begin to be able to tell you where to start. It is easy to make your own packs. You have to be careful with the soldering, a small "rivet" makes a better one, and the heat does not harm the battery. If you want longevity, then you run the batteries in parallel. Running any more Batteries in series could ruin it with too much voltage and current. Wait till you can take it apart and see what's in there. :)

The idea looks good...

To let you know hat kind of battery is inside, it's a Ni-Cd, apparently 8x batteries making the whole thing.

Plus, I am seeking for maximum power without affecting the lifespan of the car itself.

I have seen "in action" videos like the one below, and I can say it shall be satisfactory to me, for now.

Anyway, if there would be a Tamiya 1/10 chassis that could be of the same dimensions (overall width and wheel spacing essentially), then I could make it a lot easier.

Let's see what I have, when I get it.

More voltage as in more cells will make the motor turn faster but can also over power the rest of the electronics. Switch to LiPo batteries for longer run time and longer cell life, not for more speed. More speed is usually achived by changing the motor itself for a faster one, or keeping the stock motor and changing the gear ratio
I used to race RC cars and still have a few that I play with, Is the Aventador an all wheel drive? or just rear wheel drive?

Eventually, acquiring a battery that can give more driving time is also welcomed, since for all cases the whole complex of the MaistoTech 1/10 cars is rather complicated. (^^)'

All MaistoTech RC cars are rear wheel drive, including the offroad ones (I have the Sand Runner, by the way), as far as I reckon; no wonder these are meant to be more like "toys" than full-fledged rock crawlers, or mud-eaters...

I was about to think on Jamara's 1/10 Aventador, which is nearly 100.- CHF cheaper, but what prevents me from getting back at Jamara is that the two only RC cars I acquired had major conception flaws, starting from the lack of resistance of the parts incorporating the engine.

As for MaistoTech, I took the proof on my Sand Runner, which works fantastic, without problems, even after nearly a year - friends of mine who also have these also told me they still experience these 1/10 and 1/24 cars which run perfectly, even after years and years of use!

So it's much safer to pay the double with the confidence it's quite reliable and resistant than the cheaper that comes out expensive at short term.

I had the Kyosho 1/10th scale Diablo years ago, it came as a kit and I built it up with all the "Hop up" parts like aluminium dampers and an upsized motor with changeable gear ratios. I thought that for what it cost with all the hop up parts that it would be a nice reliable fun car to play with, it ened up being a paper weight.... If I had stuck with the stock model and just played with it, it would probably still be running today.

That's a lesson to learn; do not underestimate the power of a Kyosho, Tamiya and any other RC manufacturer with that huge potential.
You must show me that model sometime. (^^)

I no longer have it, it was lost when I moved from Mississippi to Georgia back in 2004... :(

Next time i'm in the shed I'll get out the car that I keep running to play with, an AE (Associated Electric) RC-10 TC4 all wheel drive with 4 wheel independent suspension, 4 aluminum dampers, front and rear anti roll bars, Carbon composite chassis, front and rear ball diffs and center ball diff with changeable gear ratios. Powered by a 6 cell NiMH battery pack running a full digital proportional Electronic Speed Control, and super fast .2 sec lock to lock JR steering servo, and a 23,000 rpm 540 series competition motor. The controller is a JR R-1 FM PCM 3 channel pistol grip with interchangeable frequency chips.

Like I said, I used to RACE RC cars... :cool:
