Thank you again, I've downloaded both, and will print out the "White Viper" when my new laptop arrives. My current laptop, has a bad processor fan, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. when it works I can use my computer, when it doesn't, well...

!!! EXCITING UPDATE INCOMING!!!

Thank you very much! :)

In the meantime I was not lazy. Despite all time constraints and the heavy workload which is constantly on my shoulders I have some exciting news for you. This is going to be a somewhat longer post but since this thread is already a few years old I found it appropriate to delve into details as deeply as possible so that all of you understand what I am talking about.

Well then This project started as a result of the lack of a sreen-accurate Viper model. This was bugging me a lot. The Revell-Monogram model was nice for the time but it lacked a proper interior and had some weird structures on the intakes and too small thruster rings. Moebius could have avoided that but they chose to make the nose longer than it should be and nixed the organic look and feel of the Y-piece details which were totally acceptable on the Revell model. So you'll have to combine the two to get an ultimate Viper model. Eaglemoss took me by surprise big time when they released an almost perfect replica - if they had added an interior and landing gear.

So it was my turn to develop this model and bring it to a level it deserved. Now with the small one completed there is another task lying ahead, to increase the scale and make a 1/32 and a 1/18 version. The 1/32 is a given to have a match for all the other planes in that scale available. But I do know that there are many of you, especially my dear fellow warriors @Rhaven Blaack and @ASC Mclaren , are desperately wanting for a 1/18 version. Now I have some exciting news for you, because the time has come for a BIG announcement.

But please let me tell you how much I enjoy working with all of you, be it for feedback, tips and advice and the occasional whip to get me back on track. You are wonderful. And I mean that. I could not imagine a greater comunity than you guys and gals here on zealot. :)

So it is my honour to tell you that I have finally managed to get

your attention for this special occasion.

Because today is April 1st and if you can see this text I congratulate you!

Happy April Fool's Day! : - D

Happy New Year, fans! :)

A short itrep on the Viper front. In the last few days I was working on several projects including this one (the others being the Logan's Run vehicles). I have applied a first texture to the three-part nose:

31.jpg

A test build is necessary to see if everything lines up and looks good.

In addition, I have textured the three-part intakes and am now developing strips which are glued to the inside in order to beef them up:

viper-intakes.jpg

Each successing ring is a tad smaller tan the previous one (by 0.4mm). The rendering shows the 1/18 version. The intakes are about 5 cm in diameter, so the difference between the rings is barely noticable. The 1/18 version will get four, the 1/24 three and the 1/32 two layers. Each layer must be resized individually because of the paper thickness. Unfolding and calculating is still in progress. As with the nose a test build is necessary to see if the strips fit. I'm working my way through from front to back. There will be several other things I will address, so it is a steady process. Next will be a resized neck ring behind the intakes to accomodate fully fleshed out greeblies. Stay tuned! :)

I am glad to see that you have returned to this project! Everything looks really good thus far. I am greatly looking forward to seeing how the larger versions will turn out! I am also looking forward to trying my hand at building the 1:32 scale version.
