I found that depressing. Good graphics, but why would that creature run towards the explosion? That part made no sense.

It surely was fascinated by the glowing flakes. Maybe it was expecting some sort of catharsis behind the fire wall. Anyway, it had no chance, whether it was running away or toward the fire wall. I thought the transformation into the Firebird worked extremely well - in the literal as in the figurative sense. It showed that the dinos lived on in another form. They continued to survive as birds. This is what I think makes the movie so beautiful. It says that no matter how big a catastrophy is you are facing there is always a glimpse of hope and life will continue.
