We don't have problems.. only challenges:twisted:
But seriously no, there where some parts that didn't fit that well, but they where covered up by the strips that run all the way along the hull.
    Cheers, Billy

    Robur´s "Albatross" Air Ship

    Hi Billy,

I must say I follow this thread with great interest. I remember clearly the fascination when I read the Jules Verne book as a kid. Then a couple of years later, we had in Sweden a comic strip or cartoon series of magazines called "Classics Illustrated". One of them was devoted to Robur and the spectacular "Albatross" air ship with the many propellors.
Ever since I read and saw the drawings of that amazing ship, I´ve always wanted to build a model of it.

    Good luck with the build,
    Bengt

Hello Bengt, I had a copy of Jules Verne's book when I was a boy, I still remember those illustrations..

It's not in the instructions, but i made the roofs and the hatches thicker, to give it more body..

    "Albatros" Air Ship

    Hi Billy,

Your build looks very nice - amazing detail. The build-up of the internal hull looked very comlicated but you did it very well - it resembles the construction of the U-Don Lunar Module´s descent stage very much, which I am building at the moment.
I look forward to seeing work on the rigging.

Best of luck with the propellor masts,
    Bengt

    And the bow..
The art-work on this model realy resambles the old engravings, normaly when I build airplanes you go for the best resamblence to the original, but it a nice approach on this model, it's going to look like a 3d engraving
    Cheers Billy

Robur The Conqueror´s 'Albatros' Air Ship

    Hi Billy,

You´re right - it looks a bit like a 19th century engraving, with the tight line pattern and pen strokes. It must have been a lot of work to draw it.

It´s beginning to look very, very good - you have done a wonderful job of the bow and stern and the propellor shafts.
And I like the real hemp rope at the winch . . .

I wonder where I could find me an ABC model of the Albatros . . ?

It's coming along very nicely. I didn't know of this ship before and when I first saw it, I thought it was the 'Master of the World' ship from the 1961 movie.

I'm curious - how does the ship steer? It looks like the rudder is fixed in place with the propshaft.

Putting up the first masts, coloring them with a big brown marker, the shashliksticks where too white..
8 masts down ( or should I say up ?) 30 to go...
    Cheers, Billy
