On my 2 mains, I'll be using Atlas code 83 #8 turnouts of course, but in the yards, since the engines will be going so slowly, and as a space saver, is it possible to use #6 turnouts? Engines I will be running will be mostly AC4400, -9W, 70/80/90MAC's and the like, but also SD40's, GP's , F7's and steam. Would 6's be a good idea? Thanks

Number 6's are standard turnouts, anything will run through them. #8's are just for high speed running/ better looks, and are great if you have the space. You might be able to use #4's in your yard, do some tests with your 6 axle diesels before installing if you want to use #4's.
